Since when did the Turkey forum become the unofficial Grumpy Old Man forum?
Only a select few make it that way, unfortunately

Poached anything lately or did you suddenly decide to give that up after getting caught red handed?

Always love the high ground stance by a known poacher.

What's the deal with the poaching. I miss everything.

He posted several pics of smallmouth bass he and his buddies poached from the Holston, then claimed ignorance. I think he turned himself in after myself and several other posters made sure twra officials had the evidence. Could be wrong on turning himself in, but he got caught red handed by boasting on this forum.

He's not the first to expose themselves and won't be the last. I have no tolerance for poachers, they're thiefs and steal from the rest of us.

some people legitimately mess up and don't know they are breaking the law. I am not saying that's the case with the smallmouth because I really don't know the situation there.

Yes I did turn myself in, as I didnt know that was breaking a law. But since you know everything about what happened, you can continue to post what you do. I admitted to it, and tried to make things right...And since then according to good ol Setterman, I poach every fish I catch and poach anything that I hunt as well as boast about it. And he definitely tries to make that clear

I called him out in the thread, saved the pics and sent them to local TWRA officials, as well as PM the TWRA officials who post here. Someone with TWRA said, that he claimed he was turning himself in.

Catman- the way I see it our regs aren't that complicated really, and people like you and I and the vast majority of other hunters take time to learn what's legal and what's not. We choose to not exploit the resources we are blessed to enjoy, and also aren't so selfish as to put our own greed ahead of every other license holder in this state. Ignorance does not make a person innocent and is an excuse used by people that get busted breaking the law.

In my eyes, a person brazen enough to post pics of poached game for everyone to see, lie about the location, and what occurred is a poacher and game law violator to their core. If I hadn't known exactly where the pics were taken the cycle would've continued, correct? What would've stopped it?

Sadly there are certain actions people take in life and for the rest of their life they're branded by those previous actions. Some, heck maybe a lot of people don't care about poachers, but personally I do. In this particular case a lot went into getting the special regs passed, and the river has responded well to the new management plan. That is if the poaching is thwarted.

We are all stewards of our resources and it's our responsibility to make sure those who abuse it are punished so future generations can enjoy them as well. Not just a few selfish game hogs

Sold a member out?

He sold himself out, and it's our jobs to protect the fish/game from people who would gather it all for themselves if given the chance.

People who don't turn in poachers are almost as bad as the poacher imo. I'd turn in any of my friends just the same, if they broke simple rules

Never once lied about a location? No need to, I would take anybody who wanted to know where in was to the exact spot they were caught.

Setterman about learning and knowing all the game laws, ask scn about that. Nobody can know every law in the book, and even those who try to follow the rules will mess up.

I would hardly call someone who messed up and turned himself in a poacher. To me a poacher is someone who intentionally breaks the law and/or doesn't care about game laws.

According to Setterman I am the lowest of all humans for what I did, a scumbag. And he loves to post it every chance he gets. I guess he has LOTS of time on his hands and nothing better to do. I don't even bother to post anything I kill on here just to keep from hearing his BS.

It's an easy excuse and after several decades of hearing I didn't know this was private, I didn't know that I couldn't kill x, I didn't know the season closed, and on and on. I don't trust or believe any of them.

I'm done discussing this, it's pointless. But forever more PinchPoint is branded a poacher in my eyes, a lot goes into that and it mostly revolves around his behavior after I called him out. I don't hold grudges on much of anything, but this one I won't let go.

Sorry but in my eyes breaking game laws is about as serious as it gets. Maybe it's because I understand how lucky we are to have what we have, and there was a time when we didn't have the opportunities we do now. I understand that a few selfish people can ruin an entire resource for every one else that enjoys it. I believe that poaching is stealing from every citizen, whether they hunt or not.

I have plenty of things to occupy my time, and would rather not have to deal with poachers and trespassers ever again. But rest assured I want everyone to know who you truly are, and that you spit in the face of all the people who fish and care about the river. Why would I assume it stops with a few smallmouth?

I never hold grudges on these forums, I forgive and forget daily and do not let any of this banter bother me, but you crossed the line and I will never forget. Just being honest and upfront.

I won't go seeking you out to, but when you started targeting me the other evening, I decided it was time to make sure everyone knew or were reminded of your history. I let the first couple go, but you kept pushing.

You can think whatever you want to think of me, and the same goes for me about yourself.

Setterman you have to think about it, he doesn't seem like your typical poacher, the repeat offender who's going to do it again. It seems to me like he made an honest mistake, turned himself in, and I'm giving him the benefit of the doubt that he won't do it again. Why don't you spend your time publicizing the real poachers, the ones who don't post here because they know they're doing wrong. The ones who get high off dodging the law are the ones to worry about. The guys who kill 7 bucks in a year because they can...the road hunters...they are hurting the resource, not a guy who should have read the regs on smallmouth in a river and then turned himself in when called out. Give him a break, there are worse people with far worse violations that you can expose and talk crap to.

Again, I'm not roaming around looking to attack him and won't, however if he wants to poke the bear and come at me, then I will highlight his transgressions.

He's welcome to post kill pics etc, and I won't attack them, I'll just ignore them.

You don't seem to understand that this was instigated by him, yet I'm the bad guy. That's fine, but understand I had no intentions of bringing this up until he decided to take a few shots at me.

Not real sure when I "came at you" lol, but there is a reason you get the responses me and others when you say the things you do.

And BTW I don't need your welcome to post on here... Guess I just don't feel the need to "boast" on here. like you say I do.

Have a nice day Setterman
