Congrats! I like it when they come in silent like that, adds a little more excitement especially because, as you saw, a lot of times they show up in a way that makes it hard to get the shot off. You made a good decision to shoot off handed, rather than trying to shift around.

Boom redhead, I was strategizing so hard for a minute after the shot I had to calm down a minute to fill out the tag.... turkey hunting has officially became my favorite sport after that harvest.
I've seen how they transition early season to late season and I know for a fact a late season bird is 50 times harder than an early season bird.

Wasn't impressive in the trophy realm, 6" beard 3/4 spurs 18# but I had to make a quick left handed close range fast shot....
the biggest trophy of my life.
