Outdoor edge Swingblade. The gut hook is awesome

I'll second this one. Been using one for years and the zipper blade is the best for opening up the skin without getting hair everywhere.

Outdoor edge. Sharp as a scalpel and when it's not you throw the blade away and put a new one on.

I use a Wyoming. 2" blade with gut hook. All metal. Unscrew 2 screws to clean everything good. Touch up with a strop and that thing stays razor sharp.

I'm hoping I'm not the only one that this happens to. Killed a deer. Dressed it . Took it to processor. Cleaning up and can't find my knife. Gonna need a new one. Any favorites out there?

I'm horrible at getting a knife sharp. Outdoor Edge or Havalon replaceable works great for me.

Had this made when my son was born; one for each of us. S30V blade and Brazilian Rosewood handle. If I lost this I'd be back in the woods looking, and get a metal detector if necessary. Got it with the intention of something he could hand down to his kids.

Like every other man in America, I love knives. However, after skinning, dressing and caping countless big game animals I just keep reverting back to replaceable blade ones. I carry the piranta in my chest rig (weight is exactly 1.6 ounces) and an Outdoor edge razor light in my pocket.
I can quarter an entire elk with a resharpened Outdoor edge blade. Most people toss the blades but I resharpen mine all the time.

So far this year Ive broken down one elk, pronghorn, mule deer, couple pheasant and many trout off one blade that was resharpened from last year. Also used that blade as an EDC the entire summer n fall.
Unless the blades are complete toast, I'll save them as well. Super simple to swap a nice blade out for an older one for your EDC.

Also, it doesn't hurt as bad to lose a cheaper knife vs a beautiful custom one.

Laugh all you want, but I've field dressed & skinned probably a hundred deer with one of these.
The blade does great, and the saw goes thru bone very easily.
Mom gave me one of these when I was 14--my son has it now, I replaced it several years ago when I gave it to him.
If I'm hunting or fishing, it's in my pocket.

And I'll reshaped the Havalon blades 3 or 4 times before pitching them.
