Climbed in the blind and heard several roosting around me. They flew down about 7am and I watched this Tom strutting in the field just across the property line. Had a Jake and two hens come by about 730. About 15 min later I saw the Tom and two hens making their way towards the creek. I knew once they cross the creek it's over. I cut and yelped a few times and then hit the gobble and here they came back. Took a shot at him and I just wounded him and killed him trying to make a run for it on the second shot. 18lbs, 9inch beard with 1in spurs. Not a bad start to a first season of turkey hunting. I really think my success has come because their are so many birds where I am. There's not to much skill to somebody that's just starting
