Well, on paper. You sure hear how great all these guys are. We will probably never know unless the coach decides to start using them.
If the play calling doesn't change for the vols they may end up in a fight with vandy at the end of the year to be bowl eligible. Right now, I don't think the vols would be able to dominate Vanderbilt, and that's sad. Jmo

I agree, as do most of the "experts". He is playing scared and playing not to lose. I tortured myself last night and listened to sports talk for a few hours after game. Fuad reveiz, Jimmy hyams, John Wilkerson all of them had same comments. They are just as disgusted, I haven't heard them come down on coaches that hard ever, usually they take up for them but not last night. Every column I've read had same thoughts questioning butch's abilities. His family will have a rough week, it won't affect him because he won't be out in public much during football season busy working 18 hours a day and sleeping in office, at least I hope he is trying to fix this.....problem is I think he is to stubborn to see he is wrong and change his philosophy.
 
With the media pressure butch is recieving, he is gonna have to change his philosophy. There is no way butch isnt hearing the things being said.
 
I think he is too hard headed to change anything, and that will ultimately bite him in the backside.

What's the use of having all them receivers and no q back
 
My biggest problem at this point isn't all the awful decisions themselves, but rather the lack of stones or lack of knowledge to man up and admit your mistakes. That's what scares me most. A leader has to be able to recognize and admit fault when he's wrong, and Butch isn't doing any of the sort. He owes the team and fans an apology. This team should easily be 4-0 and headed towards a 10-2 type season and instead we are 2-2 and headed towards another 7-5 season purely due to coaching at this point.

I'll take a stab at it.

I don't know Butch Jones MO all that well, as I don't keep up with all the Vols games (I don't have cable/ESPN). But from what I've read and observed, it seems like he is a "conservative" minded coach. He doesn't seem like a risk taker...say, like Les Miles. If Les Miles' gimmick play works, he's a genius and a gambler. If it doesn't work, he's an idiot. Thus...rather than risk failing a 2 point conversion, he took the safe way out and figured he could rely on the defense to "hold" the Vols.

I suppose the Vols are similar to Jeff Fisher's Titans. Rather than play to win, he would get a lead and sit on it. Jeff was a conservative type coach as well. On a rare occasion, he'd gamble and call a gimmick play, but not often.

That's my viewpoint, take it for what it's worth.
