Bow press???

I searched to see if anybody has talked about a pipe bow press on here but couldn't find anything.

So I was looking online for bow presses, I found some people that have made them but nobody actually using them.

I'm going to make my bow string tomorrow and thought it might be a good idea to have a press to remove the string and put the string back on...

Has anybody ever made or used a pipe bow press if so how well does it do?

Don't use a makeshift press , use a press designed for your bow that won't crack the limbs , riser , or worse . Bow limbs are under significant compression , and improper pressing can lead to failure and down right dangerous to the user !
I have used a portable bowmaster press for years on bows with limbs that are not beyond parallel .
They work great ! I have been using mine for over 25 years now !

The pipe clamps alone were going to cost me $20 plus the pipe.

Just make sure it's compatable with your bow . If you have split limbs , you need to get the appropate adapters .
 
Awww just find two trees close together put your bow against them, tie a rope to the grip and the other end to the truck and pull till it slacks the string.
No biggie. ;)

The bowmaster is an okay press for what it is�a portable press for problems in the field. It is a slight pain to use, but in an emergency it works. I have an EZ Press and consider it to be the best and easiest to use. You can get the EZ Green for a decent price. No way would I put my bow in half of the DIY jobs I've seen on AT and other places.
 
The bowmaster is a great press for bow that are not beyond parallel. I done everything you can think of with mine at one time or another. I wish they would come out with a model that did beyond parallel limbs. I had to buy a night hawk for my latest bow. It presses the bow fine and easy but is a pain to set up and you have to watch all the metal slinging around to keep from scratching the crap out of your bow.
 
The EZ press looks almost the exact same as a pipe except it has metal hook to hold the limbs?

Plus they have like a $600 price tag... I was hoping to keep under $50.

Since my grandpa is down in town I might see if he can help me build one.
He is a long time master mechanic and metal worker.
He can built pretty much anything out of metal.
Maybe he can help before ho goes back to MI.
I'll check out the Bow master tomorrow when I go to archers den.

ez green . $399 and well worth it for the piece of mind .

I might be able to get one around tax season
 
Get the bowmaster before you go and do a makeshift "pipe" press . Trust me ! More limbs are cracked and risers damaged in bow presses than by shooting .

Ok will do.
I just went to Archery den and they didn't have any so i'm going to stop by the mt Juliet one and check them out.
