The University of Tennessee has announced that Athletic Director John Currie will meet with the media tomorrow at 1PM EST.

Volquest is saying Currie presser at 1pm. Butch to resign. Buyout negations started after UGA game. That's the pay sight so there's not as many troll jobs there. I don't know the op's stats. Not my account, I just use borrowed login.

Doug Matthews said on his show this morning that Coach Jones future is now in the hands of the AD.
He said that this staff is showing a lack of ability to develop talent, especially on the OL.
He said that changing coordinators in the middle of the season is hard, but sometimes it just has to be done.
Matthews, being a former coach, doesn't base his opinions on emotions. He is more lenient than fans when it comes to the matter of coaches performance.

What is the advantage of keeping Butch Jones at this point? It looks likely that TN will be playing for bowl eligibility against Vandy on November 25th. Butch hasn't proven to be much help to the team when it comes to winning football games. Fill the UT Jet with cash, and spend the next 2 months flying around the country letting proven head coaches see what 10million dollars in cash looks like. Maybe one will bite, maybe not, but would TN really be any worse off if they weren't able to land a proven Head Coach over the next 2 months and had to settle/gamble on another "up-and-comer" for half of what they are paying Butch?

The only coach close to that kind of money is Saban. Harbaugh mages $9 million and looks like Michigan is going to be 1-5 against their 2 biggest rivals if they lose to OSU again this year.

Couldn't have said it any better.

Look at what LSU did last year. They got Coach O. And he was what, their 8th choice? Everyone on here thinks it's just as easy as a snap to get Gruden/Kelly etc, and LSU couldn't get anyone they really wanted and their program is far superior in the past decade. Fact is, it's not that easy.
Look at Florida after Spurrier. They hired Zook. Got lucky and found Urban Meyer. Muschamp. Now wanting to run Mcellwain out of town.
Highly successful coaches just don't up and move to another job. Franklin would be a fool to leave Penn St.
Texas was ready to give Saban $10 million and he turned it down.
Petersen isn't leaving Washington.
Patterson is at TCU where he is king. He can go 5-7 and not with about his job. Plus, it's private school money and his total compensation doesn't have to be disclosed.
It's going to be an up-and-comer or an unemployed coach.

Well Kelly is unemployed, so is Gruden [emoji1]

I don't think for a second Gruden is going back into coaching, especially college.

I'm not sure about Kelly. I've heard he doesn't do well dealing with boosters and I don't know how much he can associate with these southern boys. I'm not a huge fan of his hurry up and run a play every few seconds, what does that do to your D.

Although, he has won and has played in NC game. He is available right now to talk with. Other coaches will be late November before direct talks begin, more than likely.

I know it's great to be a bama fan right now. But reality, saban has been bad for college football and the SEC...great for bama though.

It's bama, rest of college and sec. The SEC has gone down a lot since saban. Schools are trying to hire someone to beat saban and in the process it has ran our conference in the ground. Saban has his pick of recruits before the rest of the country gets to chose.

College football and SEC will be a lot better off when saban retires.

Gruden
Chip Kelly
Bob Stoops
Bobby Petrino
Will Muschamp
Kirby Smart
Jeff Brohm
Mark Richt
Mike Leach
Jim Bob Cooter
PJ Fleck
Mike Tomlin
Heck, even offer Saban. Who knows maybe he's secretly always wanted to wear Orange Pants. Or wants the challenge of reviving another team.

Some may be a long shot, but you pay them top dollar and write a contract that gives them pretty much free reign of the Football program. If no one is interested, roll the dice on Mike Norvell of Memphis, offering twice his current salary of 1.6million and full control of the program. How could he be worse than Butch Jones. Also all them to tell the boosters that he appreciates their financial support, but it stops at financing.
