Brook trout fishing

If you already have ultra lite rod and reel( I like a 6-6.5ft rod and 4lb line), spin it up with some 4lb line (may have to try using a 2lb leader too). Get some small roostertails, minnows with a blade, trout magnets etc. If you are talking fly fishing I am of no help there. You can try corn, meal worms, redworms, salmon eggs and Berkley powerbait in a jar. Some streams are single hook only so check that out before you throw artificials with treble hooks

I used to fish in the Smokies for brook trout pretty often. Most creeks there have a lot of brush overhead so a shorter fly rod is handy. Something in a 3 weight maybe 7 feet would be good. They would take just about any dry fly I ever tried. Nymphs were always good too. Biggest brookie I ever caught up there was 11 1/2 inches. Most were 8 inches or less.
