Honestly in East Tennessee I have had no need for anything else. Doesn't mean I haven't wanted anything else though. One of these days I want a nice .45/70 lever gun just for the fun of it.

- .270 tons of deer
- 45/70 yes

- 6.5 PRC : No (just purchased)
- 300 WSM (3 rifles): Yes (elk and deer)

2) if anything extraordinary about one, please indicate so.
- 270 browning abolt. Sold a cow when I was a kid, to buy. Supper accurate . Sentimental.
- 6.5 PRC Browning Xbolt: gun is the most accurate rilfe I have ever shot.

3) if you've settled on something, please list reasons why.
- 270 for deer : Just because its my fav rifle
- 300 wsm for elk because its accurate, lightweight, and i'm comfortable shooting it

I deer hunt with 3 rifles primarily. All of which are old model 700s. They are listed in order of my preference:

257 Roberts
6MM Rem
264WM

But the only gun I will hunt with until I shoot another deer is a 250 Savage. It was given to me by my Grandfather in 2022 and I have carried it all three times I have rifle hunted since then. Might kill one with it this year yet.

Once I kill something with it, I will probably go back to my three favorites listed above.

Fortunately my son wants to hunt a bit this year so I probably won't carry a gun until he kills something. He will be shooting a 22-250.

early 70's Winchester Model 70 30-06 killed all my rifle killed deer. My boys don't like it, they claim it cripples on the wooden end.
Killed a few deer with a Winchester 1200 that I've had over 50 years.

Dad started me with a 243Win when I was 6. I'm 45 now and still use a 243. Only caliber there is IMO. lol
As for kills. No tellin. Never been one for keeping count.

Yep, I've killed 3 with an '04 Silverado… one actually committed suicide and ran into me. It hit the side of the truck and I didn't see it until it was rolling down the road in the rear view mirror. Left an 8' long section of intestine on the axle of the trailer that I was hauling.
