Saw these at the show last weekend, and while Im not a vortex guy, this is a very neat new option. Will mount on any shotgun thats drilled and tapped and will co witness with iron sites. Fully enclosed which fixes the issue of getting dirt or water on the inside of the emitter. Overall a very interesting new option for hunters

For that price i will stick with burris

thats MSRP, seems retail world its around $325-$350.

Still more then a burris but if you are buying a low pro mount in addition for the burris then its closer in cost and burris isnt enclosed. I love burris so I dont plan to change over but thats a great option for someone that doesnt already have a sight and wants a low pro enclosed option.

I saw that. Not a vortex guy either. Saw many comments about their other reddit options that they run through the batteries. So hopefully this one doesn't do that. Looks good.

I'm ignorant to the emitter but is that an issue for the Burris FF3? Never had a problem in the couple of years I've been using one so not really sure how it happens.
No. Basically there are two types of "red dots" closed and open emitters. Open can have foreign objects block it, enclosed has the emitter sealed inside the optic.

Ordered one the other night. Watched a bunch of videos on YouTube. Vortex has a military/1st Responder discount that's good. I went through GovX, bought the multi reticle. It was $321 with shipping. Old eyes having a tough time with sights.

Right what was said above. The issue with open emitters is they can get dirt or debris in them which cause the dot to be obscured. Worst case water gets in the inside of the lens and it really starbursts the dot.

Having said that I've hunted with one for almost 10 years and only had it happen a few times and generally it was water from rain or crawling through wet grass. They make rain covers for them though so I just use them if I know I'll be in wet conditions

I looked at some Hawke dots and scopes there. Hadn't seen them before but looked good. Im still using my Holosun which I love although has some scratches.
