I'll throw my 2 cents in regarding several comments. TWRA doesn't advocate eradicating the deer to stop the disease or prevent its spread. You're not going to kill them all via regular hunting methods. The increase in kills is just to "thin" the heard, which slows, not stops the spread. Everyone said when we created unit L herds we were going to wipe them out and that didn't happen. I'm also sure the spread will slow down naturally as it moves toward some counties that are less populated with deer, but it will still spread and eventually infect the entire state.
