Got the results back for my 2nd buck from Hardeman County. It tested positive for CWD. Anybody want the meat? Or does anybody have a proper way to dispose of the meat? Located in Oakland, Tn.

He had a large tumor on the inside of his back leg. Processed did not keep any meat from that leg. Guess I'll get back in the woods this weekend to try to refill the freezer!

That is a shame. If/ when faced with a positive and being that the deer we kill are on our property here around the house, I will probably just dig a deep enough hole with the tractor to bury it where nothing gets into it.

The meat isn't bad friends, it's only bad if your imagination tells you it's bad . Many threads have discussed this very issue. This disease didn't just fall from the sky and infected our deer, it's been here for years. We have been eating it unknowingly. There's no right or wrong on what you do with the deer meat, only a personal preference. I will say this, I'm not aware of anyone getting sick from eating deer meat infected from a CWD deer from here to the Rockies.

Then you eat it. If it's all just a mind game I say you make you a burger with this specific deer and eat it for us all too see. Then I'll value your opinion on the subject.

While part of me agrees with you, I'm not going to risk it. From what I've read, it's similar to mad cow disease. I believe in very rare cases this has affected humans and is known VCJD.
If it were a situation in which it was eat this deer or have no deer to eat… I may change my tune a bit. But I should be able to smack a doe or two this weekend to replace the meat.
You're more than welcome to take the meat off my hands if you want it.
