Dr Grant Woods on CWD

You know, he's probably like Dr. Fauci and already has something to do with some kind of patent on CWD. I still say it's a way to get more people to quit hunting.
Have you heard they are going to start testing milk for bird flu?
You remember when another country tested some fruit and sent the Covid test in and it tested positive!

What do people find wrong about this much less the cwd debate? He states that there's not been a single case of humans getting cwd and the fact that it is very likely people have eaten infected meat. He is obviously a hunter
Is it wrong to try and stop the spread because there's no proof it spreads to humans? Is that the only reason to try to stop the spread? I guess after experiencing the affects of the blue tongue outbreak 10 or so years back, I think trying to prevent the spread of cwd is a good thing. I like having healthy abundant deer populations.

I thought his video was informative.

Although, there is absolutely nothing that anyone can do about CWD in the long run. Soon, it will be in every state regardless of how many rules and regulations are put into place. I think the Wildlife Agencies hurt deer more by all the deer shootoffs they do than CWD.

Hmm. I fear CWD less than those vaccines.
Its like rabies. My brother was out at his place in the country and a bat flew into his face. He didn't think he got bit but bat teeth are so small that you would never know if you did. He went to the doctor and the doctor said the chance that he was bit was very slim and that he probably wouldn't bother getting the shots. My brother asked him what would happen if on the slim chance he was bit and the doctor explained the horrible death he would experience. My brother decided to get the shots. CWD infected meat is the same. There is a slim to no chance you will get it but if you do, it will be a horrible death. Its never been documented in humans but it has in primates. To get your conspiracy theory juices flowing, who is to say the Chinese aren't working on a variant?

The steps taken by wildlife agencies have never been anything more than attempts to slow the spread and/or buy time. This is a 50-100 year problem.

If my memory serves, we have a member on here that used to work with Dr. Woods?
Cool. Didn't know that. Personally, I have gleaned from his videos. I don't agree with everything he says or does, but I have learned a lot from listening to his advice. I didn't post the video for any other reason than I found it informative and thought I would share.

I don't understand all of the negativity toward him. I stopped arguing on the internet a long time ago. To each his own. I ain't got time for all the negativity.

Curious to see if the person that worked with him responds.

I dont either? Honestly a little surprised? Cant say I have agreed with everything he says but overall I appreciate the information he shares for free. Hadnt watched any of his recent videos but following the Proving Grounds over the years has been interesting and educational. He motivates me to burn more...now if I can just find the funds for a no-till drill...lol.

Just rent one, check with your local soil conservation office or coop

Rented one years ago from our local soil conservation office. Worked great. Couple years later contacted them to rent it again and they had sold it due to "lack of interest"?...but our Co-op has one and its gone up to $400 per rental...talking with a couple of buddys who are interested in splitting the rental fee and pick it up on a Friday afternoon and return it on a Monday morning...multiple plots on multiple properties in the same general area...cost share cooperative effort.

I agree…do folks have Woods confused with someone else? You would think he was on the Seek One team or something.

Guy is just a biologist that writes, films, consults, speaks and promotes hunting. He is a two time kidney transplant survivor and a Christian.

I watched a podcast recently where he told his career story. I found it very interesting.

Let's hear how he wronged folks!

That's the way my granddaddy and my daddy did it and taught me to do it. No need to go in a bunch if debt. Neighbors helping neighbors. That's what we need to get back to, in my humble opinion.

Wow, 400 bucks is ridiculous! Ours are 7 bucks an acre

Not sure the acreage limit? Or if there even is one? Buddy just called and asked about renting it and was told $400...I checked on it last year or the year before and it was $300 then....The one I rented from soil conservation office years ago was only $150 or $200 but it was smaller...handy though...worked great.
