I have a small creek that runs through one of my tracts. I mean small in that I can jump across it without getting my feet wet. It feeds into a larger creek that feeds into the TN River. When summer comes the small creek usually runs almost dry. I spent many an hour digging in the creek bed and have found dozens of bird points. I usually don't find the larger points digging but I find them just by walking the creek bed. I have dug up all kinds of bone artifacts over the years but it is hard work. I assume they used the small creek for their water source and prepped their food there due to the amount of fire pits around the small creek. Walking and looking are a great beginning. Good luck.
