FAU gets their guy....

Not surprised that he got another shot at Head Coach...but really surprised about the location. Whats the club/bar scene like around Boca Raton? :)

College town? Or mostly a retirement village? Either way he will be OK. Plenty of co-eds around campus towns and if he can't make a winner out of the team. He will already be in a retirement home. It may be his last stop.

Sounds like (Wait for it) WE can rest easy at ALABAMA for the playoffs and put this Kiffin leaving for FAU to rest for now.

BOCA RATON, Fla. >> Lane Kiffin has a chance to help Alabama get to 15 wins this season. And then he's going to take over the reins of a program that has won 15 games in the last four years.

Florida Atlantic and Kiffin have agreed in principle on a deal that will make him the school's next head coach. Alabama coach Nick Saban — Kiffin's soon-to-be-former boss — lauded the Owls' move, and said Kiffin will remain with the undefeated and top-ranked Crimson Tide as their offensive coordinator through the College Football Playoff.

I am glad Saban and Kiffin got all these details worked out and now they can concentrate without distractions on winning another national championship. ROLL TIDE ROLL!

:rotf:

WE didnt really care if Lane waited until the playoff was over or slithered out of Ttown tonight. YOU did.

It's the logical next step for Kiffin since he wants to work his way back into a power 5 HC job.
If he has any decent success, he will be in position to take over at LSU in a few years.

He's really gonna have to have a heck of some seasons and show that he is worthy both on the field and off the field . His contract has been said to be for 5 years and I suspect a heavy buy out .

He's done.

It's really telling that none of the "better" jobs wanted to risk turning over the reigns to him.

How come nobody mentioned Charlie getting the better Florida job?

This is very telling from the Houstion AD:

"Lane Kiffin did not show me anything that Major Applewhite did not show me," Fertitta said. "Sure, he's been a head coach and he's been an OK head coach. But I can tell you this: [Kiffin] was not a safe hire."

There it is. Go with the safe hire instead of taking a chance. May or may not work out for him .

What's wrong with going with a safe hire, and what makes Applewhite, who has never been a HC, a safe hire?

I would say it probably had more to do with Kiffins off the field antics More than anything .

Kiffin must really dislike Saban to take that big of a pay cut. Not a good decision to leave the best football team in America for a basement dweller school.

What is his salary going to be?

What hes trying to say is now that Kiffin has been taught the ways of football greatness by the football superbeast Saban, he is a for sure to be the next big thing and that Houston is going to miss out.

An endless supply of Panama Jack shirts, FAU endorsed flip flops and a free Margarita mixer, all his to keep as long as he is the head coach.

Spot on! And of course a staff well rehearsed at constant cover up of shananigans on and off campus. He is a good developer of talent and can flat out come up with the an offensive game plan. Will be interesting to watch his journey back as a head coach.

. IDK if I had a multi million dollar business to run like Houston football I certainly would be taking KiffIn on the field vs off the field under advisement very seriously and make my decision accordingly .

If you judge a horse based on his track record Kiffin is a nag as a head coach . I think THAT is the reason the phone is not ringing off the hook for him .

No doubt the Freshwater BS factors in .
