field turkeys

I have a guy at work that hunts big open hay fields. Owners let him place round bales of hay and he hunts next to them in grassland camo. It seems to work if that's what it takes. To me, no differ than me being against a oak tree in mossy oak camo!! LOL

I have a Farm I have hunted the last 10 years that has pasture hillside and creek bottom both.Every year the Toms strut and take the same route every morning depending on the roost location and weather,Sunny or raining. The creek bottom has a deep creek next to the pasture that they hang close to.The hill pasture has a little pea ridge that they like to strut on top of and gobble for several hours.Once I cracked the code for this farm it became pretty easy.I killed a nice Tom opening day in the rain,Heard him gobble one time and knew where he would hit the ground at and he did. They like certain areas of fields so just take notes of strut zones and routes they take at flydown and weather conditions and use it to your advantage.
