I know most of you guys don't like seeing hogs on your property. The thing is I have a property that used to be mostly hogs which I enjoyed taking family and friends to hunt. The landowner gave permission for trapping and their went my hogs. I still go up there a lot just because he and I have become good friends.

I bought new trail cameras. My old one were becoming unreliable or didn't work at all. I didn't need a camera to see what had invaded. The hogs plowed up his field a couple days before it snowed. The hog trap is still there, so I'm going to put corn in it and see if I can trap a couple for meat.

I have feeders up there, but turned them off during deer season.

I put bait in the trap yesterday. I was going to set it, but the I couldn't find the trigger mechanism. I'm going to go back up and rig one. Probably some sort of ramp or trip wire to pull the door pin. The government just tied the door to a tree. When enough of them bumped against the wire, it fell and captured them all.

Right now I just want some meat. Don't feel like sitting in the cold for hours. :)

Ok according to PickettSFHunter the permits have expired, how will that affect your chances of getting a ticket? I have not seen him post about renewals on his property's

It's really unclear what you can and can't do on hogs right now. It seems the landowner can trap without a permit, it's unclear if someone else can. It's confusion with TWRA themselves right now so folks are just having to proceed as normal and not worry about it. On the other hand, I can't let dog hunters hunt my land( not that I want to, I dont) but TWRA can invite them in and let them run all over private property at will. It's the most screwed up situation I've ever seen a wildlife agency get themselves into.

I haven't got my renewal, or a response from my emails.
I haven't either. Some have, some haven't. I'm tired of putting energy toward it and getting a different answer every time on what is and isn't allowed. TWRA can get their ducks in a row and then let us know. A farmer next to me got so fed up with it that he made some statements to TWRA that they felt were threatening so they threatened to arrest him. All because they can't get their ducks in a row over killing a non native invasive species. The guy is just trying to farm.

We aren't applying for another permit. We are just going to trap if we happened to see any again. (In year three now of being hog free). We got soured on night hunting them do to all the criminals that came out to shoot rifles at everyones homes that lives in the neighborhood. Unfortunately that now common practice has spread to the deer in the area. Don't want dogs running them either and messing up the trapping not the we get a choice of either of those since landowners are just cannon fodder with no property rights.
