area 05 checking a scrape in the open hardwoods ..never thought he would come in the same way i did..i use the ridge to hang a stand and over look a big thicket...he came out of a sage field and into the open heardwoods..i havnt talked to my wife all day and she started texting me around 5:00 and about 5:30 i sent her a text and turned around he was standing 15 yds looking dead at me..i thought i was busted and he eased off and stopped to scrape..i shot he ran about 50 yds and i shot again and he ran about 100 and i shot again..i searched for blood until 7:30 and came out with nothing so i figured anthor miss..this morn back to same tree and i stood up and replayed everything in my head and sure enough i spotted a down tree and i remember he ran out around it after the 2nd shot ..i got down and turned on my gps and it showed the trails i left and sure enough there was a empty spot when i was standing about 20 yds from the down tree and i kept looking and finally found alot of blood and track him about 50 more yds..i hit him twice one was a gut shot and the other was a little back..the bullets were still in him and it took about 70 yds to pick up blood..3 1/2 hour drag and thanks to wayne (super8) he hooked me up with a cart ..i would drag for 20 yds ,smoke a cig and rub horns then repeat..lol
