I don't hunt a lot of mornings because our farm is mainly fields, surrounding big woods. I typically blow deer out going in on any morning hunt.

With this rain and front system Thursday, I am going to give it a try Friday morning. Hunting close to a few scrapes, that I hope bucks will be out trying to freshen up after the rain.

Good luck to everyone! First change in weather we will have had in 10 days.

My advice for you in that situation is either to get in really early before the deer come back to bed down or wait until daylight and you can see what you're walking into

I'll be going in plenty early. Just hoping it rains through the night and the deer stay bedded. The way our farm is laid out is mainly fields and we have a few hundred yards of our own woods, and is surrounded by a couple thousand acres of woods that aren't pressured.

Not really a way for me to access our farm to not bust deer out in the fields at night.

Looks like the rain will stop during the night at some point Thursday, and the north wind is better for me where I'll be sitting.

I once took all of the daylight scrape activity I'd ever caught on camera and cross referenced it with the corresponding weather at the time. Folks often think rain ending will spur bucks to revisit scrapes but I never found that at all. What I did find was a little more than 70% of my daylight scrape data was captured basically immediately following an abrupt and significant change in major wind direction. Other weather condition changes compounded it but the wind was by far the most common theme.

That said, look at Friday morning through Saturday midday. Rain ends before daylight right as the barometric pressure begins climbing to a spike, clouds clear, temp drops, and wind makes a 180* u-turn. Friday morning looks AMAZING, but it stays cool(er) all day & night then wind turns sharply again mid morning Saturday as pressure spikes again. That 24-30hr span is as good as we've seen so far this season, IMO.

Good problem to have!

That's exactly why I plan to be there!
