First deer rifle I bought was a 270, still have it. Killed a crapload of animals with that gun.First I've heard of that one. It's been my go to caliber for 30 years or so

When I start lion hunting I will care if the 6.5 will kill lions. When they start killing lions with 6.5's then it will loose the title of manbun gun.

The 270 hype was created by Jack O'Connor started writing hunting articles about what he had done with the 270 rifle sometime in the 1930's, this was when magazines and newspapers and radio were that generations internet and this put the Winchester great into stardom.
My personal opinion is, this necked down '06 is best deer rifle I've ever used. Just sold a great old Mauser 30'06 because I never used it.
I've shot everything from 243 to 300 win mag and killed deer with them all but always picked my Browning back up , IMO its the best bang for my money, the 270 remains top of my list.
Rifle calibers come and go but there are a few that will still be around when all of us are gone and the 270 is one of those.
