Gay 270

This hog was highly dissatisfied with it the other day.

My Abolt .270 has a bad habit.

Everything that gets in the crosshairs has a habit of dying shortly after…

The first buck in the pick was a complete pass through at 280 yds through both lungs. 130 gr Corelokts

Second buck I shot in the neck walking away at 230 yds.

First I've heard of that one. It's been my go to caliber for 30 years or so
First deer rifle I bought was a 270, still have it. Killed a crapload of animals with that gun.
I can't say for sure, but the 270 guys sure bash 6.5 Bleedmore shooters. Maybe it's to get the heat off them. 🤔
Have both in the safe and both are very effective deer killers.

Carry on with the banter.....🤪

The 270 hype was created by Jack O'Connor writing hunting articles about what he had done with the 270 rifle sometime in the 1930's, this was when magazines and newspapers and radio were that generations internet and this put the Winchester great into stardom.
My personal opinion is, this necked down '06 is best deer rifle I've ever used. Just sold a great old Mauser 30'06 because I never used it.
I've shot everything from 243 to 300 win mag and killed deer with them all but always picked my Browning back up , IMO its the best bang for my money, the 270 remains top of my list.
Rifle calibers come and go but there are a few that will still be around when all of us are gone and the 270 is one of those.

This.

I saw some ballistic charts the other day and it looked to me like people search really hard to match 270 ballistics across all fields.

Another advantage…. If a local gas station carries 4 boxes of ammo, one will be a 30-30, one will be a 30-06, one will be a .308 or .243 and the other will be a .270
