What seems to be the general consensus on the best week to hunt the rut in this area. Some say first week of muzzleloader, others say second week, and some even feel thanksgiving is the best. What are yalls thoughts those who have hunted this county for a while. I have only hunted this county for two years and i think the second week offers slightly more more than the first week of muzzleloader. I have seen a few scrapes during juvenile, but some pretty good bucks were killed last week. I think both weeks offer good hunting, but just wondering which week is the week to use some sick days.

Hamilton county is a very diverse county. From walden ridge to white oak mountain, birchwood to east brainerd. Mountains, valleys, river bottoms. My point, is actual peak breeding dates may range wildely from area to area, but it will occur within the same dates every year in these areas. I live in ooltewah/harrison and I have seen the biggest bucks the last week of november, first week of DEC. its a sleeper county for killing big deer. There were 3 bonified booners killed in the same season a few years ago.

Late season I believe myself. To many factors. Some good deer took last year
160 inch from hixson this year 130 inch from city limits of 58.

I killed an 8 pointer this weekend. He was making a rub on a cedar. In sale creek and birchwood area where I hunt I've seen a good many rubs and scrapes. We live off white oak in Georgetown area and my buddy had a good 9 chasing a doe on Sunday. I know it varies but there have been multiple buck sightings within the last few days. Just curious myself and I appreciate all the feedback and info.

I've got a piece of property that I hunt in Ooltewah and I saw my first scrape yesterday afternoon. No chasing yet and all of the bucks on my trail cam are still at night. I think it will start to get good this weekend.

Not much rut activity yet on signal mountain. Doe are still in large groups feeding together. Trail cam pics mostly at night. Very few scrapes and rubs. Etc etc..

This is also my opinion on it. I hunt Apison, east brainerd area, Collegedale area.

I hunt 1 place on Birchwood pike (4ish miles from 58) and 2 places in the grasshopper/bettis rd area. I've found 2 rubs, which are what I say are velvet rubs, and no scrapes. Also haven't seen any chasing. Of course my places have had diminished sign this year anyway.

Usually the 2 weeks of muzzleloader. Last year, I didnt see any chasing until Thanksgiving weekend and it went full swing. This year, I've found 7 scrapes on the property and it looks like it is on. Seems to change year to year for us.

a buddy of mine had a good 8 dogging a doe this morning in Meigs County. Not Hamilton county, but it aint to far off the county line. This weekend should be good hunting.

I truly believe that the older mature does are coming in right now but then the bulk of the does start coming in around thanksgiving then in and out through december. IMO just be in the woods as much as possible now till the end of the season.

Nothing here in Soddy Daisy, as far as where I hunt. Been out here all day and feel like it's just not going to happen :bash: I need to get a couple of does, we are out.

I had a nice 10 on camera at 730 in my plot while I was at a another spot (go figure), never seen the deer before and may never see him again. This cold front should have them moving.

Back up for any updates, especially around Soddy Daisy :D . Not seeing any signs but have had a baby doe by her self in the food plot for a couple of weeks. Hope i haven't missed any action.
