Harvest numbers don't reflect the season

Lowering the Harvest to two birds per hunter will only reduce the number of birds checked in, not necessarily the number killed. Better hunting means the outlaw killing 12-15 opposed to 6-8.....similar to Kentucky's situation, but with a longer season. The Tele-Check method, although very convent, was a step in the wrong direction.
I agree tele-check was a step in the wrong direction with many flaws. However I really don't believe tele-check makes it that much easier for poachers than the old system. On public land I could see it, but not on vast areas of private land. Whether you lower the limit to 2 or leave it at 4 really makes no difference on the amount of birds a poacher is going to kill.

A traditional tagging method would make it harder on them tho

How? If I can get a deer/turkey into my bed and covered up before the wildlife officer shows up, he's got no reason to investigate me. Requiring the paper tag to be punched before the animal is move might help some, but a judge will not likely uphold that if that's all the officer has on someone, and once again, as soon as I get to my truck they have no ground to search me (assuming I'm not in camo, blaze orange, hunting gear in view, etc).

The only way to reduce poaching is to reduce the poachers- turn them in. They are stealing your wildlife, not the state's or TWRA's.

Hey, I'm with you. I wish we still had the traditional check in only. My comment just pertained to how easy it was either way to get away on private land with killing over the limit. The thing that really sucks with the tele-check is even if a warden stops you with a animal and you haven't checked it in, then there's really nothing he can do. You got till midnight to check it in, at least you use to have to have your tag filled out and on the game.

Probably the same reason it takes so long for Quota Hunt results to be posted---due to not having a well thought out plan of attack when it comes to using technology.

We have tele check in KY but you must fill out your harvest log before you move the carcass.. It's far from good but I don't understand why TN don't do it the same way.....
I totally agree.
The importance of checking in the bird (or animal) has been downplayed by TWRA.
