I have an itch for a new bolt action in 6mm with a short barrel (16-20"). This would be for deer hunting and would be suppressed. I currently have a ruger american in 350 legend and love it but looking for longer ranges. Yes I have plenty of other rifles to fill the niche but I have that itch for a 6mm 😂 I am thinking on 6arc, 243 win, 6 creedmor. Any suggestions???

I like the 6arc, especially for that barrel length.

My 6cm has been stellar as well though.

For 25-27grs of powder the arc is pretty fantastic.

I've got a Stevens 243 that is the most accurate centerfire rifle I have with nosler 90 grn bullet /imr4350. The Stevens model was discontinued a few years ago but it's just a Savage M10 with the Stevens name on it. 243 ammo and components/data are widely available with bullets from 58 grn to 110 grn.

243 would be my choice and if you handload the 6 may be tied for 1st.

My 700 ADL 243 from mid-1980's has over (IIRC) over 2,000 rounds down the barrel and is still shooting under 1 inch.

However, the short barrel may give me pause. You best be handloading if you go anything under 18 inches.
