Anybody got any pics of a pattern using Hevi-Mag Blends out of a Mossy 835 or 935? I purchased a box today but am slightly hesitant to shoot a $5 round at a sheet of paper.

Re: Hevi-Mag Blend & Mossy shotgun

Go check out old gobbler.. they have a turkey gun section with a bunch of peoples' patterning results. I'm sure if you search there you will find some.

I just read on Kick's website that they do not recommend shooting Hevi's. Bummer because that's exactly what I have in my gun. Looks like I'll be headed to Basspro in the morning. They only carry Indian Creek and Jelly Head chokes which I see most people use with Hevi's.

Any suggestions?

For the Mossy 835, I am thinking around the .680..... you could call the folks at I.C. and see what they recommend with your gun and that load, or you can do a search on OG and get your answer possibly.

I have never owned a Jelly Head but I do own a IC .665 and I love it. I shoot a Rem 870 23" bbl and use 3.5" Nitro and Hevi Blend shells with great results, both pattern wise and killing wise. I would call IC today and tell them your gun make, bbl length and the exact shell(s) you are planning to shoot and they will give you a recommendation on constriction. That is how I went about it and it turned out great for me. The folks at IC were some of the nicest and most helpful people I have ever spoken to on the phone.

Dont discredit the .690 Jellyhead in a 835. Im shooting the same choke in a 24" ported barrel in a 835 with the same load at 40 yards its so tight that im glad I put rifled sights on my gun. It makes that Browning pattern look horrible. I wish I had a pic to load on here to show you, but take it from someone who has patterned the Magnum Blend with the same set up, it will be devastating to a Gobbler.

835 turkey tactical with pg 670 choke shooting the 3in 2oz magblends this is a 35 yard shot with 20in polished barrel

Thanks...that's comforting seeing as though I don't have much time to prepare. With a 5-week old kid, I'm truly lucky to be allowed to hunt Saturday and Sunday.

Dont feel alone, I have a 3 month old thats prevented some things to happen as usual. You will do fine with your set up out to 50+ with out a doubt in my mind.

Mossberg 935 + Jelly Head .690 + Hevi Mag Blend 3.5" + 43 yards =
Dirt eatin bird!

Of the many shells/chokes I've patterned, this is the only combo I've never tested. Guess it works huh?! Thanks for your tips and guidance.

Good job on the bird drrxnupe.

I am not overly happy with my patterns right now. I will definitely give the magnum blend a try.
