Hiding a field from the road???

Consider loblolly pine or shortleaf pine available from the TN Div. of Forestry. I ordered 500 a week ago to provide a screen at a recent clearcut. They are available at: https://www.tn.gov/agriculture/topic/ag ... -seedlings . Cheap, easy to plant, no sales tax, shipped free to your county. Pines grow 2-3' per year after the first year. Avoid Autumn Olive because it is not native and is sometimes invasive.

I would be hesitant to introduce fountaingrass to your property. It could easily spread and possibly be the next kudzu, etc. I'm with treefarmer- use a row of lobleaf or shortleaf, with a row of something shrubbier like Va pine or cedar staggered in between. All it would take is a little snow or a big wind and it will flatten those tall grasses.

I have used Kenaf before. I prefer Bi-Color and pines, however. BSK is correct. One strain looks exactly like Pot. Does not smoke as well though …..

Switchgrass with intermittent pine would work if you could get use of a Native Warm Season drill……. just another thought.

I read an article on Egyptian wheat a few months ago. Gets around 10 ft tall.
