Last year I felt very confident in taking a deer at 50 yards. I practiced just about every day from the start of may up untill deer season. This year I have shot maybe a total of two to three weeks and when my bow gets out of the shop I will probably have about a month left to practice. So I think this year I will limit myself to 30 maybe 35 yards.

i practice up to 60 yds. but will not shoot at a live target over 30. a deer can move a loooong way before an arrow can cover 40+ yds i don't care how fast your bow is.

60 yards.I pratice it and if its there and everything is good,i take it.Deer less likely to jump the string at longer distances than up close.

and when they do, it is more likely to be a complete miss than a closer shot. but i still think a 60 yd shot at a live whitetail pushes the ethical line.

I agree , stik .

Shooting distance is fun in practice but ethical for very few in a hunting scenario. I routienly practice to 50 yards. 40 would be my max distance.
