Who will do it?

I personally will not bow hunt in rain. I consider it unethical. Blodd trailing is impossible. But that is just me!

Depends. In a heavy canopy of leaves it doesn't effect the blood trail as much As in a food plot. Common sense says in a downpour it is not wise to bowhunt.... Or gun hunt for that matter. Light rain I am hunting, hard rain and I am hanging stands or working inside the cabin. If I get lucky and shoot a deer with a light rain if it looks/ feels good I will pick up the blood trail a few minutes earlier but not much. Jmo

I consider me getting wet unethical!!! :D

I'm with Big J, I don't like to bow hunt in the rain either!!

I can understand comments posted about tracking in the hard rain... but playing devils advocate:
Blood dropping on the wet ground or wet leaves... isnt much easier to track. SO would you guys hunt after a hard rain? The deer will be on their feet really good, just after the hard rains stop.
IF you can put the shot on the deer that needs to be placed... you should be able to watch the deer go down from your stand unless you're hunting in a heavy thicket, etc.

Personally, if tracking in the rain is a major concern, I think you shouldnt be hunting with any weapon in hard rain. Not all gun hunts results in the deer falling in their tracks.

Again, just for conversation, not trying to start an heated battle.
Myself, I wont be able to hunt until Sunday and the rain should be down to light showers, BUT I would bowhunt in the hard rain, just have to make extra sure of the perfect shot opportunity before I release the string.

Hope everyone is safe and has an enjoyable hunt!

I have tracked deer easy after a rain . It's the chance of blood being washed away DURING a rain that is a risk .

I understand. HEY one thing is for sure... if you are on the stand waiting for the rain to stop... you may get a chance to smack a big ole turkey on the ground! MMMMM Turk'm sam-itches! DONT that sound good!?!?!? :) :) :)

I wont be in there if its raining.

#1 I don't like getting soaked.

#2. I don't like doing after rain cleanup on my equipment to keep it from rusting.

#3. I'm a slow blood tracker to start with, so I don't need anything extra to make it more difficult.

I'll tell a story. No big surprise, there, I guess.

We are hunting Willow Point, the main lodge, several very famous hunters and I. It is raining like pouring piss out of a boot. I am in a jogging suit at breakfast. One of the famous hunters, one whom I really like and respect, asked me, "Aren't you going hunting? You're not going to let a little rain stop you?"

I replied, not fair to the animal. Rain won't hurt me but sure plays he11 with a blood trail. We are bowhunting.

Later that day, after we tried to find a good 8-pt he shot, he came to me and said, "I'll not do that again.

Sure, you can hunt in the rain. We are all tough enough to do that. But we are BOWHUNTING! How do we recover most of our deer? Isn't it by blood trailing? What does rain do to a blood trail?

Not fair to the game is my call.

Bowriter always has something funny but intelligent to say at the same time. I have no experience bow hunting, but I seldom fish in the rain and try not to play golf in it unless I have to.

I have had some of my best fishing days in the rain . :) I would hunt in the rain too if I didn't have to worry about blood trailing.

No bowhunting in the rain. Smack thunderchickens is fun in it though.

I agree about fishing in the rain. Especially night fishing. You can really bring in some lunkers in a good downpour.

I am many things....and stupid ain't one of them! Heavy rain and thunderstorms= me going back to bed! Certain members of Tennessee's deer herd got a stay of execution.
