I didn't know what to think about the hunter at the beginning of the podcast. He seems to have a less than stellar background and Fentress county set off alarms…:)

But, he definitely is eaten up with whitetail hunting and knows his stuff. Just an amazing story and I wish him well.

I may have to get a glass of wine and watch it again. I got nothing better to do. That rack laying on their table is really massive and makes other large antlers look small. I cringed every time they beat it around on table while measuring it.

Interesting...if guilty...I hope they bury him.

My first impression during the original podcast was not great for the guy. Something didn't seem right and sometimes your instincts are right.

What a shame this story had to go like this. I would have liked it a whole lot better if the hunter had just done it legally and could have gotten all the accolades such an accomplishment commands.

It was dumbass compounding more dumbass. If he capes it and gets it mounted quietly, we are not here. Not advocating for that, if it went the way it seems still wrong. But you cannot gloat and try to profit if you do not have a locked tight story that makes sense. He and his friends simply are not real bright. It will all play out but i do not see it ended very well. I have been surprised before, though.

The entire situation is disappointing to me. Bad enough the kid did what he did, but IMO what's worse was the way the hunting culture turned against the DA and law enforcement. The DA and wardens have been getting badmouthed and their character attacked since day one. And for what? They're doing the job we pay them to do, which is ensure everybody follows the same rules and punish those who won't. That kid wasn't being harassed or robbed of a trophy. He was being investigated. And now he's going to find justice. Imo it worked the way it should have.

Exactly. I've often said it, if you kill a deer of that caliber you better be ready for a life changing event, phone calls, etc. You also better be ready to possibly be questioned because of the caliber of a deer like that. They could come and question me and look at the kill spot all they want. As far as the publicity, I wouldn't go on a podcast or anything like that. I'm just not into that stuff. I'd send it to some buddies, post it on tndeer and that would be it for me.

That dude was a little acoustic before and got even more acoustic when he went on the podcast and was receiving fame. I wish it had went the other way and could hear he killed it legally and it was jealous people making a stink about it. But I had my doubts about that.

He deserves everything he gets now.

Didn't he say he had the deer at the taxidermist before they took it from him? Been awhile maybe I misunderstood but If so how does it get in there without a tag seeing as he didn't have a license?

Maybe he did. I am sure i missed some details i wanted to reach thru the screen and choke the kid within 20 minutes of hearing him talk. Can spot a snake from a mile away.

The community takes a hit here regardless of the outcome. And you are absolutely correct that is the most tragic part.
 
Saying he had written permission from his sister but he didn't. And it was killed 10 miles away from her property are the illegalities from what I read. Plus all of it staged. He will get what he deserved.
 
It sounds like his buddy Zachary decided to work with Law Enforcement for reduced charges.

Just speculation, but he has 2 counts of tampering with evidence charges, it makes me think there's multiple deer involved. He may have tagged the big buck, but not the others.
 
Of course...you can indict a ham sandwich. Just look at the Trump indictments.

There is a lot of smoke blowing here that usually indicates a fire.

If this guy went back and hunted the same area again after he had basically already got away with it....that is just plain stupid.
