There's been a lot of talk about Jalen Hurd's weight, but the initial assessment here is that it hasn't slowed him down any. If anything, Hurd looks more explosive than he did a year ago. He looks every bit of 242 pounds, but he also looks like he's put in the time to improve his quickness. That was really noticeable in his cuts and change of direction.

Hurd missed a stat padding game against UTC due to being dinged up against UF and another game where he would have gained some yards against Vandy where he was sat for fear of having a concussion. He probably would have been close to 1000 yds or more last year if he had played those two games.
He was basically asked to carry the majority of the load last year rushing wise as a freshman coming off of a shoulder surgery. He wasnt physically ready as far as his body size. He had a horrible offensive line yet he ha. 800+ rushing and well over 1000 total yards.
