I hate to ask this...

I don't know if I am looking at this the wrong way or not and I don't know what I should/should not be doing.

Last year I bought a Crystal Mistress. When I ordered it I thought the order may have gotten messed up, so I e-mailed David and 2 days went by and he didn't respond. I knew he was busy, but had never dealt with him, and only knew what you guys tell me about him, which is he is a great guy. I had my wife e-mail him, since it was her pay pal acct we used to pay and literally in 2 hrs he responded to her. About 3 weeks later I had a question so i sent him an e-mail and no response again. My wife e-mails him within a couple of hours she gets a response.

Anyway i told you all that the calls playing surface cracked. everyone said, call or e-mail him and I'm sure he'll replace it. I e-mailed him and 2 days later I e-mailed him again, then the next day I called and left a voice mail. He responded by e-mail and said, he was sorry and he's busy and to send it back and he'll see if he can fix it. Great I'm happy and responded and told him I totally understand he is busy. I sent it back fed ex. I know it was delivered to his address that he gave me. I waited a week (last Friday) and decided to call him to make sure he had and and see if he had time to look at it. Of course no return call. waited till last Tuesday, and called him again, but didn't leave a message. Instead I e-mailed him again, again no response. I waited until today and called him and left another voice mail. I told him I just want to make sure he got my call. So tonight on my way home I decide I'll call him again, but this time at his home #. His dad answered (I'm assuming it was his dad). I told him what happened he told me he is busy and gave me his home # (I guess he moved out). I called it and i thought I got disconnected, so I called back and i swear it sounded like he picked the phone up and hung up...

I know he is busy, but it should not take him that long to respond with a simple e-mail or even a text message saying I have the call and I either have or have not looked at it but should get to it by this date.

Am I missing something here? is this normal for him? Am I being unreasonable because I want to make sure he got my call? I don't know if I should keep trying to reach him or not? I know some of you guys seem to know him at least a little bit and have dealt with him, so I am asking those guys what should I do?
 
I don't know him from Adam and never had any dealings with him but that's piss poor in my book assuming he's doing fine and not laid up in the hospital or dead. One of my biggest pet peeves is not getting a returned call / email / text. A quick text or email is easy and is nothing more than common courtesy. Good luck!!!

I kinda feel the same way. I know he is young and running a business, but you have to take care of your customers or your business will fail. I can send an e-mail in 20 seconds. DO i get behind sometimes and not get back to someone that day, sure, but I either get back to them then next day by myself or if they e-mail me again, I respond almost immediately, because I don't want them to think I am ignoring them.
 
I did notice that some of his die hard supporters on here have not chimed in and said, "I usually get a hold of him this way", or "this time of year he may not respond to you. I know it's wrong, but..." or maybe, "he's busy, but just keep calling eventually he'll answer or return your call."

I just want to make sure he got my call. Fed Ex shows it was delivered, but I just want to hear from him he has it.
 
I'm glad to hear this cause I was thinking about buying the crystal mistress but sounds like he has a rating of 0 in customer service.
I highly value customer service as my main concern so with this information post I would not support his business.

I've never had nothing but good customer service from him (mainly responding to my inquiries, answering questions, and quick shipping, etc), but I have never returned a call and had to go through this chain of events. I would think the timing of your return (Feb-Mar) is working against you. Jan-Mar is typically the busiest time of the year for most custom call makers. I would continue calling until I got him so I could get clarification. I am all about being persistent when it comes to stuff like this. I've dealt with David on and off and since 2004 and would be glad to try to contact him if you want me to. I don't know if it will change the outcome, but I'll gladly inquire and tell him I encouraged you and others to consider his calls.

Did you purchase the call directly from him or from another vendor?
 
Well I was hoping Roost1, stringmusic (I think that's the right member) or one of the member's who has a few of his calls maybe knew a better way to get a hold of him. I'm pretty forgiving and while I don't like the way it has been handled I assume he is just really busy and while that doesn't totally excuse it, I certainly understand that he is super busy this close to season.

I just wish he'd return my calls or e-mail and talk to me for a minute or two. I didn't know what else to do, so I figured maybe one of the turkey guys on here would know. After all it was their advice that lead me to buy the call and it is a great call.

haha I almost added your name to the list of people that I was hoping would respond. I thought I remembered you had a few of his calls.

Yeah I know it si horrible timing on my part. It didn't happen until February though, which I couldn't help. I will continue to call him. Should I call on Saturday's and Sunday's??

If I can't get him, I'll let you know and maybe you can get a hold of him.

The purpose of this thread is NOT to scare you away from buying his call. The call is a good call and I think most of his others are as well, but I've never owned any of his other calls. I knew it was bad timing and I honestly do not know that he HAD to do anything for me. He could have said, "how do I know that you didn't break the call?" I don't think he'd have had me return it, if he wasn't at least going to fix it.

I was just trying to get some help or perspective on what my expectations should be this time of year.

Now if you order now, the chances are probably low you will get it this season, but If you wait until after season, you may get it in a few weeks and you could practice, condition the call to your liking and have it for next season. I think most custom call makers would be hard pressed to get you a call this season at this point.

I have several of his calls, but I never bought them directly from him. This certainly isn't the first time his customer service has been brought up in a forum.

I would stay persistent with calling him.

I've had nothing but positive experiences with talking on the phone and emails with David.
He's been gone all week because he was at the Dixie Deer Classic
Also I would think due to the high volume of emails, phone calls and Facebook messages he's taking on due to everyone wanting calls at the moment I would like to think he's way behind on replies.
Like Andy said I would be happy to contact him and for you by phone or text.
I would go out on a limb here to say that he's in no way ignoring you. From previous conversations I don't think he's that type of person.
I know I couldn't work 12 plus hours a day and talk with a lot of people after work.
I really hope that this issue is resolved promptly.

Yessir, I'd call every couple of hours until I got someone. Per my wife, I am the king of being a persistent jacka$$. :)

I just sent him an email, will make you aware if I get a reply. What is your name so I can cross reference your call/return if/when he contacts me.
 
Not defending him one bit but you have to be aware this is by far the most busy time of year for the guy. Call orders as well as shows he has commited to. I'm sure you are not the only one trying to call and get some info. He is a one man shop basically so your limited to 1 guy trying to answer a lot of calls and emails which allows things to fall through the cracks. I'd be pissed to and I'd just keep calling and when I did get a hold of him let him know I'm not happy. His response would tell me all I needed to know.

The times I've called he usually got back with me pretty fast but I've never tried and call right before turkey season opening for a lot of states.
