If you could only take 1 call..

Thunder dome slate call, I've hunted turkey 15+ years and called in more turkey with this call than any other.
 
tough call, i would go with one of the following depending on location and day

1. HS Strut "strut cut" they dont make it anymore though
2. HS Strut 1/2 moon mouth call
3. Simmons Custom Calls tube call
4. Woodhaven Slate call with an Osage orange striker.
 
My pick would be a slate. It is my favorite type of call, and the one I am most proficient with. I can make more sounds with it than other types, and I can run it very quietly, or loud for "prospecting." I also think my slate sounds more natural than my box or glass calls.

True Double & Deadly Double are the only 2 mouth calls I use anymore. I usually just take these 2 calls when it gets hot or later in the day or later in season, when ya get tired of lugging the call laden turkey vest around. Gun, shells, 2 calls & me runnin & gunnin! I use an old plastic snuff can that I cleaned out to carry my calls in, just put it in ur pocket & go!

Some of the latex will "rot" or get brittle or even just break on some of the cheap ones I had. If you put them up covered in spit and your case is really air tight and is exposed to extreme temps in its case and it stays like that it will ruin the latex.

That was just some old cheap wal mart quaker ones.

Havent had any get tough on me in the last few years.
