Why the name calling? I don't call you or anyone else names?Good Lord you're an idiot!
16 team playoff would stink up the works even more than it would have been this year. Teams 7-12 were absolutely horrible and did NOT deserve to be playing for a NC.The biggest problem is dragging out the schedule.
They should easily be able to go to a 16-team playoff, which would take 4 weeks to work through - the same amount of time it took this year. As you said, nothing wrong with having more games.
They will have to figure out how to populate the field, but dropping to 6 teams only is ridiculous. The field needs to be a factor of 4, or you wind up having a "bye" week which is just wasted opportunity.
The QUALITY goes out the window. They are even talking of going to 32, wth is wrong with having more football games duh
So you think OSU should not have made the playoffs16 team playoff would stink up the works even more than it would have been this year. Teams 7-12 were absolutely horrible and did NOT deserve to be playing for a NC.
You had one team in particular...the vols had already been excluded from the top 12 but it took 5 teams losing in big fashion to get them in there. So yeah,,put me down as a NO for allowing the expansion for 16 teams. NO THANK YOU.
I think that was there seed not ranking.Notre Dame was 7 and Ohio State 8

Notre Dame was ranked 5 and Ohio State was ranked 6. That chart shows how the teams were seeded in the playoff. A couple of teams ranked lower got automatic byes for being conference championsNotre Dame was 7 and Ohio State 8

I agree except football is not the only sport in which a vote on who gets a chance to play for the championship. NCAA baseball basketball has a selection committee along with automatic bids as well (women's basketball and softball too). I don't know about the other sports.College football is the only sport where there's a vote on who wins (or gets the chance) the championship. I was in favor of the playoff expansion, and after the first year I am even more in favor of it. The bye and the seeding need to get fixed, but it was great for the sport. I'm not as supportive of NIL, but I also think players have been paid forever anyway, just under the table and in not so large amounts.
If we had previous formats, the two teams playing in the national championship would not have made the playoffs.
Yes, that's true, but there's a big difference in voting for two or four teams and 64 teams. My wording wasn't done well, but that was the point I was trying to make…in college football a committee or computer used to "pick" the best two or four teams and give only those teams a chance at the national championship. Championships are not to decide who the best team in the country is definitively, and I am in favor of allowing more teams to have the opportunity to hoist the trophy for their school instead of just a few. Especially when there is no way to judge who is better since the don't play each other or even play the same teams.I agree except football is not the only sport in which a vote on who gets a chance to play for the championship. Definitely agree to end conference championship games. I also think the national championship should be the Rose Bowl every year as it is the biggest stage in college football. And play it on New Year Day by having playoff games each weekend after the regular season and a bye week before the Natty.Do away with conference championship games and go to 16 teams.
You win your conference during the season, and you're in.
No byes, 8 games on the top 8 teams home fields for the first round.
Then move to four bowl game sites.
