Trophy rocks were always the best draw here as well.

Where deer have more mineral rich food, I guess they don't need the minerals as much. That probably has everything to do with their attraction to salt with or without minerals.
I'm sure food resources play a big role.
 
Surprisingly, I'm actually considering starting my salt licks back up. Hate to say this being in the line of work that I am, but I'm done with worrying about CWD. It's coming and there's nothing I can do to stop. However, looking at areas that have had it the longest, their deer herds are in relatively good shape. I'm just not going to worry about it like I used to.
 
I've heard the mineral salt has a more bitter taste than the white salt. Anybody know about that?

Added minerals are very bitter. That's why people have to add salt to licks made from bagged minerals. But naturally occurring minerals are not bitter.
