I don't like the sound of that, this sounds like debord is the man. He is probably waiting till after signing day to limit damage, uproar from this. if this is the hire, it might be his downfall.

He was on the Finebaum show today talking about his search and how hes not in a rush. He said hes never been more excited and optomistic after going around the country interviewing. I really don't think that it's him. I could be completely wrong but I think he's more of a mentor in all of this....

According to Jimmy Hyams of radio station WNML in Knoxville, Jones has interviewed five outside candidates for the Vols' vacancy at offensive coordinator: current Michigan administrator and former UM coordinator Mike DeBord, as well as 2014 coordinators Matt Canada (North Carolina State), Clay Helton (USC), Noel Mazzone (UCLA) and Kurt Roper (not retained at Florida). Additionally, UT wide receivers coach Zach Azzanni is listed by Hyams as a candidate as well.

What is the knock against DeBord?

I think most Vol fans are worried that he's been out of coaching the last two years, ran a pro-style offense as an OC, and his name isn't well known.

CBJ would hire him because he's the safe bet. Butch lost the only OC that he's ever had and he knows Debord personally.

I posted the above awhile back... :tu:

I'm aware of the relationship between them and that he'd been out of coaching for two years but not the system he runs. I knew I could count on you to come through. :tu:

Don't think there is anything wrong with the guy, Vols are just wanting a BIG name guy who has ran a good offense last couple of years and has been successful doing so. Debord has been out of the game a while and his name is not well known His NOT the "BIG" hire fans want. Don't mean he will be a bad coach lol.

some vol fans will act the way A LOT of Florida fans acted after they didn't get the "BIG" head coach hire and settled with coach DR.pepper. read comments from Florida fans today on bleacher report about UF recruiting A lot of UF fans are still unhappy with that hire just because his not a BIG name coach.

I Think after the 7-6 season the blow out bowl win, the A+ recruiting and all the work CBJ has done to get the UT program back on its feet, A lot people expected nothing but a BIG time OC coach to be hired by CBJ and they will be unhappy with a guy who has not coached in a few years not many people know. Still don't mean he wil be a bad coach.

Well honestly when I first heard about it was extremely unhappy about him even being considered. 8 years or so without calling plays, pro style when he did, I could come up with a lot of things I didn't like. The more I've read and the more I've looked at it from others perspectives the more I'm OK with it IF he does end up OC. Is he my first pick, absolutely not, but Butch pretty much knows this decision he is about to make could make or break him. I trust him to make the right one. He hasn't gave us a reason to not think he's made the call yet!

I just don't have confidence in him. He's not even in football right now. He is the Olympic sports coordinator or something. I'm assuming he's not there by choice, nobody wants him for a reason. We need a qb coach which he is not. Is he going to appeal to young recruits, when is last time he recruited in the south?

Who do you guys want? Who do you think is the best hire? I would like to see them move up Azzanni myself, he knows this team, the offense CBJ wants to run and the players.

There's a run on Zoloft in Vol nation!

I think that Tee Martin would be a good hire. He did for UT what Peyton could never do: win the big game. He is a rah-rah guy with a lot of drive and offensive experience, and a UT guy at heart, but UT has not always reciprocated in it's admiration for him
