I've been there a couple of times for weekend trips, but was always bass fishing.
Pay attention to the water level. If it's low, be extra cautious. If it's normal pool, be cautious anyway. Don't navigate solely by your map. If you start going up river, you can be in the "channel" and still have timber sticking up. Keep your eyes peeled.
I've stayed at Little River twice. It's cheap. (the water pressure in the shower is amazing!) The place is old, but it's always been clean and safe. There's plenty of room to park your trailer. They have a decent little breakfast there (nothing fancy, but beats driving in to town - biscuits, eggs, bacon, sausage, gravy). You can also get lunch there. The people there were always friendly and accomodating.
If you happen to use the ramp at Little River, be careful. There's two lanes and if you back down the middle of them you can hit the concrete separator and get in a pickle. Happened to a guy in our club. They had to get floor jacks down in the water to get his trailer unstuck.
