Late Fawns

Looking back at some post season pics, I ran across these two of late fawns from Feburary. Guessing that these are 3-4 month old fawns. Add that to 7 months for gestation and that means that the does were bred in March-April time frame last spring??? Click pic to enlarge.

My wife swore she saw one with spots still back in December, at first I thought she was crazy but then I found out quite a few people had seen late fawns.

Its a wonder they survived this brutally cold spring we had this year

I saw a deer few weeks back in Hickman county that looked to be a 4-6 month old fawn. I jumped it out of a treetop while turkey hunting. It was running solo, no other deer around that I could tell. Little bitty sucker with long feeble looking legs.

Kinda makes me wonder if this isn't what messed deer season for a lot of people

I caught a spotlighter that killed a spotted fawn several years ago. The date was Nov. 13. I also picked up a spotted fawn that had been hit by a car in Dec, a few years ago. I have also spoke with at least 2 bowhunters that killed prgnant does in mid to late Oct.

Wow. I can say over the years I remember spotted fawns in late October in Georgia. Here in Tn, I have seen some very young ones in October.
