I know I've posted this before, but just a friendly reminder of what could happen. It still makes me sick to think about it. 2006we had several gobblers on our place, 2007 we had 1.

This graph did not include wma kills, in 2018 not including wma Lawrence was at 190

This is so crazy to me and what's even crazier is that some people think Its no big deal and do not want to be proactive in other parts of the state. Whatever is happening is surely not bounded by arbitrary county lines.

Yep. So many on this site on other threads just shrug it off and say "I've got tons of birds!" "More gobbling than ever" . I sincerely hope their places don't end up like this.

I don't feel a thing. Sounds like you boys better find you a WMA and sharpen up on your "pressured" turkey hunting skills. There may not be tons of them and they may not always blow the woods down, but there will always be a few there for those willing to actually "hunt" them ;)

Been doing it for 10+ years now, I have to drive at least an hour to find birds to hunt. If those numbers don't alarm you, regardless if you hunt in that area or not, you are part of the problem...

The local wma had an earth shattering 13 Turkey's taken off of it lol, I've had more success hunting wmas, than I ever had hunting my own private ground and these birds get messed with alot more than those big tracts out east

Nope, still don't feel a thing and I can assure you, I'm not part of your problem.

I'm not part of the limit dropper, and shorter season crowd. There is a bigger problem at play here, and hunting is not the problem however you spin it. Our farm went from 15 longbeards in the spring of 2006, in the spring of 2007, there was 1there were 2 in 2008. It's not over harvest, hatch or predators or anything to do with season length or timeframe , but I don't know what it is. None of those problems kill 1000's of birds in a years time.

With all that said if you honestly do not care about a failing species, that you claim to love, regardless of where, you genuinely are part of the problem. As of right now it's only 3 or 4 counties, but it could happen anywhere.

I hope it don't, I don't want anyone to have to go through it, anywhere in the country. I font want you or anyone else on this forum or anywhere in the state to have to see it, but I cannot fathom anyone that claims to love the species not be concerned about it whether your 30 miles away or 300

Some places just ain't meant to have turkeys, or turkey hunters for that matter. ;) Seems like you'll be ok though. An hour ain't bad to have to drive to turkey hunt. Hunting those pressured Gobblers will make you a better turkey hunter anyway. That way, when all the "pets" have been killed out, you will still be able to kill turkeys. :)

Nothing bada## about me. I can assure you of one thing though. If I did live there, I would have done my best to have had my name next to one or two of those 13 Gobblers checked in off that "local" WMA.

Then don't. I surely don't take you serious, at least as a turkey hunter :)

Just read and move on & take stupid comments as a grain of salt. He's just trying to stir the pot. He doesn't have the knowledge/sense to bring any real validity to this topic.
