LBL Deer Hunting 2024

Shot a doe. Got stuck 😂 Donated the doe. Really delayed my day but I'm back at it.

Had the first gun hunt at LBL. Over run with hogs. Saw a couple of smaller bucks but that was it. Cooler weather should have them moving some. Good luck to all.

It's been a crap show up north honestly. I'm seeing quota hunt turnout really go up. Most states plan for 50% turnout but it's getting to be more like 80%. Just people everywhere. No wilderness area so basically can't hike away.

I've been surprised with the number of trucks here and how many people are squeezing into one spot. I've been able to get away from people both sits so far but I've seen a total of 1 doe. So take that for what it's worth.

I noticed the same thing on the first hunt. I couldn't believe the number of hunters that showed up. The crazy thing is, last year, I bow hunted the week before the 2nd gun hunt, and it was as crowded as a gun hunt. It seems as though the place is getting pounded with hunters.

The number of shots I've heard this morning is really something. Makes you feel like you're doing something wrong when you've seen 0.

Same thing down here.in TN, trucks pulled on top of trucks in my area. On the TN side my guess is most guys would rather hunt with a rifle than a muzzleloader State wide. I just been pulling in where no one is parked and going in,.Seen some doe.

On the Kentucky side. Not much to report other than a few does. I have had someone walk in on me both days so far (1st day I had hiked a mile in to hunt). I can't say it's any better or worse. I sit in a tree all day most times and let the orange army do the work for me. Nearly every year I'm here I have encounters with hunters in the woods except when the weather is poor. It's what I have come to expect being part of the experience. One year I killed a 10 point that was 21 inches wide with the a random guy sitting maybe 100 yards from me on the ground. I average killing a buck here every few years (2011, 2014, 2019, 2021, 2023 if my memory hasn't failed me) so I'm not due to kill one for a while but it's November and things can change in a split second. I do have a friend hunting here too and he had a 130ish type deer somehow get underneath him and spook before getting a shot. I think he said something about mid-afternoon naps lol. Good luck fellas, hope everyone gets what they are after.

Any pictures of bucks from this weekend at LBL? I hunted edge of corn field in the woods, saw skunks, tons of squirrels. Plenty of hog sign in field and trails in and outta the woods. But I didn't see any deer or hogs. How about y'all? Game wardens had road block set up Saturday. Noonish. He mentioned a Gnarley 15 had been taken.
