A couple days ago on the way home from school, mid-afternoon, I drove by a lone jake near the road.

Today on the way to school, in a completely different spot, I saw a lone bird (jake or gobbler, couldn't see the beard from the distance).

This is in Williamson Co. I hope they are like this down in Maury Co. So I won't have to use "henned up" as an excuse, I can just use "novice" or "other hunters" as an excuse.

Lone Gobbler normally equals dead Gobbler! I love catching one by himself!

The one I passed this morning was just standing there on a gravel drive...I was thinking, if it was one day ahead and I had permission to hunt the land, I would have snuck into the woods edge and gave a few calls.

If you could have gotten anywhere close undetected, he would likely have been dead!

I bet you're right. Assuming my inexperience wouldn't screw it up. I have snuck around and "ambushed" turkeys while not hunting before, so it would have been possible to set up in the right place, but then it would be up to me playing the game right to get him in range.

I have had my eye on that land for a while now, I need to see if I can find the owner and knock on the door and chat... who knows, it could be possible....

On the way home from school today I passed some birds in a front yard. 2 longbeards, and one of them had a bunch of ladies with him. He puffed up for a few seconds while I watched before continuing to drive down the road.
