well at 40 yards i was perty impressed with what the 11-87 did with this shell :bash: like hitting a brick wall arty:Setterman":dk1nt4k1 said:Congrats on the bird.
As I've matured the gore shots do nothing for me. Tbh, I don't quite understand the infatuation with them

ok, guess ill shoot the next bird in the body so i dont hurt anyones feelings or interfere with anyones spiritual connection with the birds  :roll:Setterman":1xmgfcce said:WORM82":1xmgfcce said:? I can appreciate that.
As I've grown older, not old just older, and been fortunate to kill bunches of critters I have grown to gather immense respect for the animals I hunt, especially turkeys. There's very few things in nature as beautiful and unique as a mature gobblers head is when he's lit up for spring breeding. After several decades watching them change colors while getting excited, scared, or mad. Seeing one mangled just isn't cool anymore. Sure I mutilate plenty each season, but I don't want a picture of that, I'd rather remember the critter as he was before I ended his life, which was quite a display of how cool nature is.
Call me weird or whatever, but that's my perspective. To me these aren't just a pile of meat or a target, I deeply respect them and find the whole spring ritual fascinating.

as if you were never young at one time. Dont talk down the generation that will keep hunting going, just because of a bloody pic. Most people I know who hunt are significantly older than me (22)... I think we need more young people who are into it and keep the sport going. You too Setterman, why do you expect someone half your age to meet your maturity level?Cowman71":3v56mnzy said:Typical of the younger generation
At 20 yds you would have probably missed. And Im not saying you cant shoot. Patterns that are that tight at 40 yds leave no room for error on a close shot. I would rather have a pattern that opens a little more at 40 yds. But, thats just me. Congrats on the bird.hornsdonteat":jbi3os5s said:well at 40 yards i was perty impressed with what the 11-87 did with this shell :bash: like hitting a brick wall arty:Setterman":jbi3os5s said:Congrats on the bird.
