Congrats on the bird.

As I've matured the gore shots do nothing for me. Tbh, I don't quite understand the infatuation with them

well at 40 yards i was perty impressed with what the 11-87 did with this shell :bash: like hitting a brick wall

Congrats. I killed one at 40 yards this morning also with the long beard shells. After carrying him out my legs, boots and my vest were soaked with blood. The gore pics don't bother me.

? Setterman. I didn't say I liked gore pics but they don't bother me. I could have posted some really bloody pics of my gobbler this morning but I'm not that kind of hunter.

Congrats...pretty impressive at 40. You may want to shoot at about 60 or 70 with those! (BTW, those of us who have not matured as hunters appreciate the post.)

congrats, I'm using those shells this year, hopefully I'll get to test them soon and on another note, if you feel the need to criticize someones pic, just don't post at all

I can appreciate that.

As I've grown older, not old just older, and been fortunate to kill bunches of critters I have grown to gather immense respect for the animals I hunt, especially turkeys. There's very few things in nature as beautiful and unique as a mature gobblers head is when he's lit up for spring breeding. After several decades watching them change colors while getting excited, scared, or mad. Seeing one mangled just isn't cool anymore. Sure I mutilate plenty each season, but I don't want a picture of that, I'd rather remember the critter as he was before I ended his life, which was quite a display of how cool nature is.

Call me weird or whatever, but that's my perspective. To me these aren't just a pile of meat or a target, I deeply respect them and find the whole spring ritual fascinating.

Don't be an idiot.

Where did I say you shouldn't try and takes one head completely off? I've certainly done it many times and will again.

My point which you missed obviously is the new era of glorifying the gore by posting pictures in an attempt to brag doesn't sit well with me. It's part of the new era of hunters sadly.

I get what Setterman is saying.

I personally dont mind the gore of it so I'm not knocking the OP for putting it up, Nice shot btw

I'm just not gonna knock Setterman for stating his opinion either.

Typical of the younger generation
as if you were never young at one time. Dont talk down the generation that will keep hunting going, just because of a bloody pic. Most people I know who hunt are significantly older than me (22)... I think we need more young people who are into it and keep the sport going. You too Setterman, why do you expect someone half your age to meet your maturity level?

Congrats on the gobbler, those longbeard loads are impressive. my first turkey ever had the skin peeled back like that because it was a 6 yard shot. I wish all my shots were that good.

Congrats on the bird. Feel free to show the damage anytime. Some posts should really chap my back side. Before season there is many people that pattern their loads to get the tightest patterns possible in order to achieve the quickest kill possible. Looks like u did just that. No difference in people showing what broad heads do on their animal. Geez some people. :bash:

At 20 yds you would have probably missed. And Im not saying you cant shoot. Patterns that are that tight at 40 yds leave no room for error on a close shot. I would rather have a pattern that opens a little more at 40 yds. But, thats just me. Congrats on the bird.
