Longer season ? Cwd related

I agree completely. The 3-antlerless per day limit was set for psychological reasons - to let hunters know it was OK to shoot does. Of course the Agency doesn't expect anyone to actually kill that many does (and it would be impossible to do so for long), but my question is, how far would hunters like to see the limit dropped until they see it as "reasonable?" At what point would a limit actually be limiting anyone
Most people aren't doing that, I agree.

But we have a neighbor who does and they have a very large crop field that the deer can't seem to stay away from, and you can certainly impact a local herd that way.

Especially in these bottoms, where everyone has 40-100 acres farms and they all get hunted.

I'm in a similar situation. Surrounded on the south and west sides by agriculture fields (beans & corn) that deer can't avoid. The land owner allows a lot of "guests" to hunt the farm. I've seen hunters leave the farm with 5 or 6 deer stacked up on a trailer. I intentionally harvest less deer, hoping to see a population increase the next year.

I picked up another depredation permit last weekend. Im in the heart of the Cwd zone. I have continued to shoot atleast 3 deer off my small farm the last 8 or so years during the regular season. Plus up to another 8 or so off public land in the county. I did not kill a deer using last years permit. My part of Fayette county is crawling with deer, but I also have some larger farms near me. I have seen deer densities estimated at 50/sq mile. I'd be happy to shoot a few more does and maybe a nice buck in the spring time but the testing and waiting for the cwd results has made it more of a hassle then it is worth. I can run over to Arkansas and kill deer there and not have to get them tested and process them in a timely manner. I know even with the permit, I am killing less deer then I have pre-cwd.
