Looking For Middle TN Small Game Hunting Buddy/Mentor

My biggest takeaway is to get there earlier, probably an hour or so before legal sunrise, and just stay nice and still. Looking forward to going back to that same spot this weekend! It was a bit dense but at least I know for certain that there was some activity in that particular ararea.
No need to get there quite that early. I would get to your 1st sit just before daylight. Squirrels are lazy and sleep in.

The pellet rifle you have is ok. You are going to get flyers all day long though. If you really want to get serious down the road with a pellet gun, get a PCP. There are several that are reasonably priced and will do a much better job. Look at Air Venturi and Benjamin Marauder for under $500. Get a hand pump for filling the air tank. It's a bit of work but you can have an all day hunt on one tank of air.

Key to squirrel hunting is move slow, sit a lot, and most of all have fun. Too bad you are not in SE TN.

It just dawned on me that I've got this Wednesday off work, so I'll be up bright and early to make my way out to Cheatham WMA! onX shows lots of mixed oaks there, so I'm hoping squirrels will be all over the place, but we'll see. This will be my first time hunting as an adult, so I'm really excited to get the ball rolling! Wish me luck, y'all!

Will be using my new Gamo Swarm Maxxim .22.

Edit: If anyone has any tips for me, feel free to share!
