Of narrowing down which calls and strikers I'll be using this spring. You never can have too many...

hahahahah i know the EXACTLY what you are going through. Last year i cleaned house on some of my old stuff and found a guy who wanted to get his kids involved in turkey hunting but didnt have the money to do so and just sent it all to him fo free.

I'm limiting myself to 3 mouth calls, 4 pot calls, and one box call. I usually don't start the morning off with a box call because I hate carrying the dang things. When it's time to cut n' run I'll go back to the truck and clip the box to my vest and then take off.

Looks like my 3 mouth calls are the Derringer and Lil' Strut by H.S., and Scott Ellis' call from Woodhaven. Along with my sweet new "companion" call I recently designed...

I have two sets of pot calls: one for sunny days and another for rainy days. I'm a huge believer in pot calls because of their versatility. They're silent to carry and you can change tones depending on the amount of pressure or striker you use.

For sunny days, I'll roll with my custom made pots (can't beat em'). For rainy days, I'll whip out my commercially made composite pots.

It was all over once I discovered this website: http://brooksidegamecalls.com/

:o I think it will take me years to accumulate that many calls. Heck I'd just take a random drawing out of that pile, I'm sure they all sound like turkeys :D

not sure if a thanks or a "great" is in order lol

i was unfortunate enough to have a very close buddy making calls (tube calls, strikers and pot calls) for me all that i wanted if i just bought the wood....needless to say that turned into WAY more then i can count. I think at one point i had over 150 strikers of different wood combinations haha. Thanks good he quick making turkey stuff and stayed with duck calls or it would be even worse now....he will still make me a sticker or tube call if i ask but not like before.

he does good work though if you are a duck guy. http://www.simmonscalls.com/

I can see an order in the near future.

I have made a few orders from brookside. I made a few good sounding calls but never could get the finish on them I liked.

Easy for me, I carry 1 or 2 friction calls, and 2 mouth calls.

AT this point in my career I know what works, what I like, and what I need. No reason to tote a bunch of stuff to fill up a vest.
