I'm new to deer hunting and live in Knox Co. Love to learn from others or find clubs in my area that can help me gain confidence in taking my first deer.

It's tough to start from ground zero and have much success right off the bat. Not sure how much experience you have at this point but there are folks around Knox County that would help I'm sure.
Thanks! I've got some experience being in the woods and shooting bows. Just never had a chance to take a deer at this point. Public land is about all I have and that is where I have a ton of questions. Probably the reason I haven't really gotten out due to those pressured areas.

Hunting public land means you need to work twice as hard as someone on private. When you think you've gone deep enough to avoid other hunters, go deeper...

Do a lot of reading and watching videos. Look up Bobby Worthington and Shane Parker to learn how to read funnels and read topo maps. Listen to podcasts, i personally like the southern outdoorsmen podcast, but not all episodes are applicable, find the guests the hunt land relative what you hunt. Listening to people that hunt the Midwest isn't going to help you much here especially if you hunt the mountains. Learn how to find and read sign of both people and deer. Find the most deer sign with the least amount of people sign. Get some kind of mapping app to that you can track trails and sign and connect the puzzle pieces together.
