As I think I've mentioned here before, my baby girl is finishing her sophomore year at Ole Miss. As anybody who's been to Oxford during football season knows, no matter how bad the Rebs are, gameday on the Grove is a spectacle to behold. Anyway, these first two years she's been enrolled we haven't been close to holding season tickets -- about halfway up the waiting list is where I've been stuck.
Well, things are a bit different this year. With the self-imposed sanctions, and probably more coming from the NCAA, it looks like a lot of the Ole Miss faithful have jumped ship. This year I went from the middle of the waiting list to mid-sideline tickets! Turns out they burned through the whole waiting list and are selling season tickets to the general public. What a difference a year (and sanctions) can make.
Now the bad part ... with the drop off in ticket sales, how do they pay for the 5000 seat addition to Vaught-Hemmingway plus the new $95 million basketball arena? Just found out this morning: there's a 7% jump in next year's tuition. Ugh. No telling what the increase in fees and other incidentals will be. Guess they're gonna get my money one way or the other. Dang sanctions. Even when I win I still end up losing. :?
