For some of you, your biggest spring time goal is killing gobbler(s). Preferably the most dominant, right? Are these birds not the most beneficial for breeding? How many hens will an old tom breed roughly?
With that, yall get on a hunting forum and bicker, leave sly remarks and debate what someone does legally...
You claim you care and are passionate but continue targeting beards and pulling the trigger.
How much habitat improvement and predator control have you done?
Maybe you should spend some time debating with the committee and not a hunter doing as he / she pleases within the laws through the license they purchased and in this case on the land they purchased. Give me a freaking break.
Hate to be judgemental but I see some of you as hypocritical and yes, "holier than thou".
Congratulations on the bearded hen. A memory your fond of and a digital picture will indeed last longer than taxidermy work no matter what the naysayers believe.

I can only speak for me, but I do only target male birds and kill quite a few. However, by the time I or most hunters that don't hunt with plastic turkeys get the chance on a breeder the breeding is done.

I do kill, predators and lots of them, the issue is I hunt vast public grounds and I'm one guy. Same goes for habitat improvement, I can't do anything on public land, if you didn't know it's illegal to do that. On my land in Georgia it is managed to perfection for all wildlife.

Seems to me that you're casting a bunch of stones towards folks who are far more serious about turkeys on all levels than those poppin hens.
So you never hunt opening weekend or the following since you never kill those who are still capable of breeding?

I'm admittedly dumb when it comes to turkeys. I'll ask again. How many hens can one tom breed?

You mainly hunt public? Now imagine purchasing that land, doing as you please legally and people bickering about such. May not bother you much but it gets old. Especially if they did such on a public hunting forum where people want to hijack threads with negative remarks degrading someone's kill they're obviously proud of.
I've got a daughter due in a month. What does setterman say I can name her?

Caught any of the stones I've casted yet?

Again, the birds that I'm likely to kill aren't still breeding. Hunting as I do without strutter decoys and no decoys makes killing those basically impossible early. The birds I take are usually subordinate birds who are looking to breed but have no hens as they're with the dominant birds.

Since I own land, I can answer this bizarre question. If I were to kill a hen in Georgia and posted it on their forum and people questioned me as they would in droves. I'd take in the lie perspectives and maybe try to understand where there are coming from

Your stones are basically pebbles btw

Again, how many hens does a tom breed? There is in fact for the most part, always next year right? You've already made it clear you check with the toms to ensure they wont breed anymore hens within the current year.
You kill "several" birds a year?
How many poults average per hen? Any chance you know how many of those are male vs female roughly?
I imagine you see where this simple math solution is going...
You however care so much and bicker when someone abides by the law but doesn't do as you please?
You truly should take your opinions and facts I'm sure you have to those that can adjust the law accordingly. Until then, I hope you can swallow your pride some and learn to congratulate a hunter for something (s)he's proud of.
Lastly, I look forward to the answers you can provide to my questions and I do wish you success the rest of your season.

This is almost comical. Almost.

I know all the answers but honestly it's (your) not worth my time.

Those that adjust the law are as much of a problem as anything and that's not debatable when it comes to turkeys and how they've been managed

You admitted you are ignorant about turkeys. That is becoming more obvious with each post. If you actually want to know more about turkey breeding habits, make a separate thread, ask your questions, and you will get all the info you could want. But if you are just wanting to argue that turkey hunters who oppose shooting hens are hypocritical because they shoot gobblers, it's nonsensical so don't expect much in the way of a serious response.

I'm gonna be honest here, my favorite part is some are getting holier then thou towards others they feel are holier then thou :)

This topic should have been moved to its own thread so it doesn't seem directed at the OP really. I think he gets that and has responded as such cause at no point is anyone attacking him personally for doing it.

However I find it really ironic and funny that some are attacking others for their educated opinions all while saying you shouldn't attack others opinions :)

Debate is healthy as it can bring education to both sides.

I'm glad the irony isn't lost on all, though it certainly seems to be lost on many.
