Opinion on blood trail?

Thanks for that info carlos. I dont think its lung either at this point. I know the property he was hunting well and just being honest if the deer was fatally shot it wouldn't be very hard to find in my opinion. I know they can do some strange things after the shot and that could be the case here but i believe he's still alive. Atleast at the moment anyway. Just hope if it is wounded its able to eat and drink

That's definitely not a piece of lung in the picture. I was thinking with the blood sprinkled like it looks to be in the picture that it was dripping from up high on the animal, not being pumped out, like it would be if it was a heart/lung hit.

I sure hope he finds it, but it's not looking good from what I've seen.
Would have to agree looks like to me the deer stood there for a little bit dripping blood

A friend of my son shot a buck this evening and has just given up on the blood trail until tomorrow morning. He sent us these to pics. One appears to have a small piece of lung in it. Said the deer mule kicked then fell on his front legs at the impact. Around 150 yd shot. 6.5 creedemore 140 ballistic silvertip.
Did the young man and his friends ever locate this deer?

As bad as this seems it is one of the ugly possibilities that come along with the all the good in the sport. It can happen to even the most seasoned hunter. Let the young man know this is part of it at times and not to give up trying! I hate it he experienced loosing a deer.

Right.
You could also recommend (as nicely as you can) some additional time at the range, if needed, to become more comfortable with shooting. We've all had buck fever before, that will rattle the most experienced of shooters.
