Pending New World Record Elk

Lots of "chatter" about this elk. Supposedly, while it was a "legal" kill, the bull was a well know visitor to a neighborhood that feed alfalpha hay for the elk. This elk was either killed in the subdivision or boarding land.

the truth is probably somewhere in the middle. For sure the guy has killed some absolute monster elk/deer in his lifetime.

A beautiful giant elk. But his situation and ability to hunt it as he did is unrealistic. I admire what an average Joe does more. But he did have to place the shot--and I salute him for that.

yup, a seek one kill of a neighborhood bull.

That's sad if true. A bull of that magnitude deserved to be beat in his terrain and not a backyard near the swing set. Again if true. Regardless it's a heckuva bull.

from everything I've ever heard, those trips can be quite expensive. Maybe someday.
from what i've read, you could take the cash for a guided hunt around the Grand Canyon on tribal land, and go on an African safari and have $$$ left over, sort of like horseback hunts for Dall/Stone rams in Alaska/British Columbis, or desert bighorns in Mexico. not a normal hunt.

Just a regular plains game hunt is about the same price as a Montana guided elk hunt. Transportation prices are the expensive part of Africa.

Ummm...

230k for the governors tag.

That's a LOT left over after the other hunts listed.

I will never be able to afford more than 4 or 5k for a destination hunt every 5 to 10 years. And thats more than most could spend, so I still feel fortunate.

But I think it's great he has the means to spend a quarter million dollars on the tag for a bull that has been followed for several years. From what I've heard, he killed it legally, so props to him for spending the resources to target a world record. It wasn't a slam dunk either, otherwise he wouldn't have waited until the last day of the season to kill him.

I don't see why people hate on people with money that has the means to do what they want… I'd rather see a man spend double what he did on that tag than the same amount for a piece of clothing , car or other physical item celebs blow more money on that on worse things

I for one don't care if it was getting fed my grandma Thelma by hand on the edge on my property being bow distance with a animal like that would be enough to make any man a nervous wreck after putting in some time hunting it

Score sheet & his son's post on Instagram. He spent entire season after bull after collecting sheds for several years. Also had a wreck with a snowplow that damaged rotator cuff & broke wrist in December!
