In tn..

Base layer.. underwear and t shirt

Mid layer... $10 Amazon fleece jacket and $ 5 army surplus pants.

Outer layer... $40 Sam's Habit jacket and $30 herters bibs.

At least that's what I'm wearing today and next couple days with temps down to 25 and 15mph wind.

Mayne Ill need some $500 jackets and $500 bibs one day... I could afford them. But I'd rather spend my discretionary $$$ on other stuff that is more important to me.

If really cold-
Base: polypropylene waffles
Mid: fleece pullover (old navy, Hanes, Columbia, whatever other brands that I have)
Outer: Mil surp wool or Duluth fleece lined firehose pants and Cabelas 4-in-1 parka

If cold-
Base: lightweight polypro, synthetic, or merino
Mid: fleece pullover
Outer: MidDuluth Firehose or mil surp BDU pants, Duluth wind shear fleece jacket

If cool:
Any combination of the above

How do you pack everything in? I wear my base layer to the stand and can hardly pack everything in a back pack. I have about a half mile walk so I'm sweating like a dog if I over dress.
Freeze the first 100 yds then layer up at stand.
I've been seen in whitey's and boots at 4:30 am in 5 degree temp. Yes I'm a nut.

Base: Boxers. Blue and red, black and white squares, or Scooby Doo. Long sleeve tshirt.
Mid: $20.00 Amazon fleece. Camo bibs.
Outer: orange Carhart stocking hat, zip up low end jacket not waterproof.

For this morning I had merino wool thermals top and bottom, cotton cargos and Red Head waterproof Insulated bibs. Over my merino wool thermal top I had on two micro fleece layers and a light polyester sort of fleece jacket under my breathable rain jacket. Yeah, five layers total for my top not counting my bibs! I have a couple of heavy waterproof hunting jackets but they make me feel like the Michelin man and I get claustrophobic as it is in my Summit.

Anyhow, this morning my oversight was to forget both hand warmers and the fact that the pockets on my uninsulated rain jacket are basically useless in keeping my hands warm. Thankfully my old Cabelas gortex thinsulate gloves do a good job for the amount of dexterity they allow, but my paws still got rather cold.

Whatever i find. I wont invest heavily into overpriced clothing. I have some super thin soft flannel sleep pants from walmart that are great for a base layer. 8.00 from walmart/ george brand

On cold mornings, mine are below:

Bottom:
Layer 1 - Merino wool base layer
Layer 2 - if below 30, fleece base layer
Layer 3 - wind proof non insulated pants
Layer 4 - Cabelas MT050 bibs

Top:
Layer 1 - Merino wool base layer
Layer 2 - Hoodie, under armor above 30 and AFTCO reaper if below 30 (will wear a fleece layer if super cold between merino and hoodie)
Layer 3 - Cabelas windshear fleece vest
Layer 4 - Cabelas windshear pull over

Body warmers on kidneys between vest and hoodie and hand warmers in pull over pockets makes it warmth down to pretty cold. I pack most of it in and put on at the tree.

Boots and socks:

Down to 30: thin base layer socks, bass pro lifetime thick merino socks, Muck field blazers

Below 30: Same socks but thicker Mucks

Low 20s and below: add Arctic Shield Boot Covers

On cold mornings, mine are below:

Bottom:
Layer 1 - Merino wool base layer
I've been considering investing in a good Merino wool base layer set. I am outdoors a lot including backpacking and camping out. I don't sleep outdoors if it gets near 30 or lower. How do you like your Merino? Is it a difference maker? Worth the money? I'm aware that "cotton kills".

Merino is worth every penny in my opinion. It's more so for wicking purposes but warm as well. I know several on here wear it which is the reason I tried it several years ago.

Various brands of the following…

Bottom:
Layer 1 - heavy base layer
Layer 2 - hunting pants
Layer 3 - waterproof insulated bibs

Top:
Layer 1 - fleece quarter zip
Layer 2 - packable down jacket (put on in stand)
Layer 3 - uninsulated packable rain jacket (put on in stand)

hand warmers in jacket pockets and Arctic Shield Boot Covers

I'm assuming you mean cold mornings.

Mountain khaki pants
Reg t shirt
Fleece turtleneck
Fleece 1/4 zip
Browning hydro fleece bibs
Under armour jacket
Gander mountain fleece orange vest
Stormy Kromer orange hat. It's the bomb.

Off brand under armour tops and bottoms base layer

Lightweight vest

Old Woolrich water resistant insulated coat

Insulated Warm Bag covering my legs and feet.

Noninsulated boots and lightweight socks

Warm as a bug in a rug

In TN, not too particular, any Walmart junk will do. Usually don't even wear insulated boots until Dec. Where I'm headed to SD next week with -26 wind chill, it'll be everything I own🤣

Usually cotton long john bottoms, Smartwool socks ( they've been lifesavers for me), a long sleeve t shirt, my regular old cargo hunting pants in different camo flavors and some type of zip up hoodie. Muck Boots or my Danners.

On the coldest days, my ancient ASAT bibs and jacket, or my old Walls Blizzard Proof coveralls over top of the other layers. Then some type of stocking cap. I carry the outer layers in on my pack.

If I get cold in that, I go home.
