Return of the Archery Only Season in December?

I would, but if anything, I see bowhunters continuing to lose more and more archery only seasons in TN. That's been the trend the past few years.

sept 22-nov 2(excluding 2 day juvy hunt) is 40 days of archery only hunting. and the entire season is open to archery hunting from sept 22 to jan excluding the juvy hunts. bowhunters, of which i am one, get plenty of time.

Would anybody like to see the return of the archery only week in December?
No. This is one of the last things I would ever desire, especially for SW TN, the area I hunt. We are usually in full blown rut here at that point (first two weeks of Dec.) and the last thing I want is to be restricted to bow only.

I'm just pointing out the facts. Over the past couple years bowhunters lost the week between muzzy and gun, lost time in Dec., lost 2 weeks of bear season, lost a Chuck Swan draw hunt, and I'm sure the list will go on.

Would anyone be interested in making Muzzle Loader season Muzzle Loader only with no archery allowed?

Would anyone be interested in making Gun season Gun only with no archery or Muzzle Loaders allowed?

Bow Hunters did not lose these weeks. They only have to share it with other hunters now.

No reason to yell at me, can't we have a civil discussion without someone acting like an a--.

I've always treated everyone on here with respect, no matter how idiotic I thought there idea was. All I ask for in return is the same courtesy.

I am sorry you thought I was yelling at you. I just wanted to be sure you and everyone else understood that bow hunters did not loose these weeks as had been erroneously reported.

Bowhunters did loose these exclusive dates. I've got the old regs to prove it. I was refering to exclusive bowhunting days. I'm not talking about shared dates with other weapons. I'm sure you knew that. You just had to get in another jab at me.

The main reason I bowhunt has nothing to do with wanting to shoot an arrow into an animal. It has everything to do with being in the woods with a whole lot less people. When gun season opens in TN I start hunting out of state where I can enjoy the same solitude. Every year, bowhunters have to spend more time in the woods with people using other weapons. I find myself spending more time hunting out of state. It's starting to get to where I question whether I'm still getting my money's worth out of my license fees. I've got several friends that exclusivelly bowhunt who have quit purchasing a TN license and only hunt elsewhere now. I wonder when I'm going to be next.

FYI, I do hunt some with a rifle in December, mainly to shoot coyotes, but if a big buck walked in front of me, I sure wouldn't pass on it.

It was not a jab. You look at it one way and a lot of others look at it another. These new regulations gave more days to gun hunters while not reducing the days bow hunters get to hunt.

It could be worse. Some states just have deer season. Opening day is with any weapon.

For me personally yes!

My hunting areas are all small farms surrounded by other small farms and the pressure(perceived or real is questionable) with guns going off all of November and December shows. Most of this is just from several people hunting the area a lot more frequently.

This is a selfish view on it and I know it. The majority of license purchases are by gun hunters and they want more time afield also. This will be an ongoing debate right up there with buck limits

I am not wanting to start an argument or make jabs but come on. Read that back to yourself. Do you see how selfish that sounds. Bow hunters, which I am one, get what 5 or 6 weeks of archery only. After that they can still hunt for almost two months with a bow if they choose. If a person rifle only hunts they get what 6 weeks? Why should they give up a week of their hunting so other bow hunters can have the woods to themselves? Yes, they could take up bow hunting and hunt two. However, some people don't have the time, desire or capability to do so. Even if they did that, they would still be loosing their rifle days.

Look folks, all I've done on this thread is point out that I like hunting in solitude during bow only seasons and I pointed out that we have lost several bow only opportunities over the past couple years. I'm not going to pretend that I enjoy hunting when the woods are crowded. I hate it.

But, what I haven't done on this thread is even suggest that bow only seasons need to be longer. I know that as a bowhunter, I'm in the, minority. Beat up on Buzz day is officially over. I'm not the one asking for additional bow only days.
